This post is getting posted SO much later in the day than I had planned. Lots of unforeseen obstacles (isn't that the way it is when you have something important going on?) The main one being my 4-year-0ld's preschool teacher calling to let us know one of of the pupils came down with the chicken pox and they need to sterilize the school. So just when I planned on getting a lot done during preschool time, I am suddenly a lot less productive. But, it's better than a kid with chicken pox, right? Perspective . . .Okay, so that's not the big news.
This is:

I finally opened my
etsy shop! This is not an official opening, more of a soft opening (thank you Ocean's 13) with only a couple of things listed at the moment. I have a bunch more things waiting to be listed sometime next week.
So keep watching! And keep watching for more giveaways in the next month! Woo!
This is my first offering. A vintage-inspired I-spy baby quilt kit.

All of the squares are pre-cut. I only used really high quality quilting fabric from companies like Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, Moda and, of course, those adorable Japanese imports. And I only went with vintage reproduction or really whimsical prints. No Spongebob or Garfield.
The quilt also comes with pre-cut borders, binding and backing.
(Recognize those cute American Jane prints?)
For this quilt I tried something new. I used a linen/cotton blend for the off-setting squares. I really like the change in texture. It's in the dryer right now and I can't wait to see how it comes out. The kit comes with a choice of off-set squares out of either the linen/cotton blend or just a neutral 100% cotton.

I am also listing charm packs of 45 different pre-cut 3 1/2" I-spy squares.
A great way to get a good little collection for your own projects, without having to collect that many different fabrics.

Here's a small sampling of what's included.

And that is my giveaway to you! One of these packets of 45 pre-cut squares. All you have to do is leave a comment, and if it has any feed-back or suggestions on the etsy shop, the i-spy quilt, or something else you'd like to see in the shop in the future, you'll get two entries. You'll have until Tuesday night at midnight Mountain Standard Time to enter. I'll announce the winner Wednesday morning. Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you so I can get mailing info if you win!
Thanks! Have a happy weekend!
congrats!!!!!! so happy for you!
ReplyDeletewhoot whoot!!! i so want your give away!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I love the I-spy quilt, I've always wanted to make one, but have been to lazy to collect the fabric! I think sits in your shop based on the quilts you make for the shop or pleasure would be great!

ReplyDeleteWhat a small internet world this is! I was just scrolling through comments on DesignMom and saw your profile pic and said to myself, "I KNOW that chica!"
ReplyDeleteI adore your blog. It's beautiful and inspiring and I've already added it to my favorites.
Congrats on your Etsy shop. I recently opened one myself, so I don't really have a lot of feedback to give :)
ReplyDeleteBut I would love to win those beautiful squares!!!
The quilt is gorgeous and I love the linen blend squares for the texture contrast. How about coordinating diaper bag/changing pad in your etsy? It is such a classy retro look for either a boy or girl. I wish you the best on your new venture.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new etsy account! I admire you women who can juggle so much in a day and actually accomplish something. Be sure to have a wide range of prices for your products, even lots of little sales add up and take custom orders too.
ReplyDeleteWow! I would like to see a pattern or a kit for the robot quilt you made! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI love your taste in fabrics. Your quilts are so gorgeous. I enjoy looking at your etsy shop too.

That I-Spy quilt is adorable. I have been wanting to make some for my pregnant friends, but have had a really hard time finding the perfect fabrics. I think you got it spot on with the ones you chose! Congratulations on your new etsy shop.
ReplyDeleteFirst you are amazing- I love all your quilts and ideas! Way to go opening your shop. I love the charm pack.
ReplyDeleteHey! I came over from Lynn's blog--I knew Lynn and Paul in Virginia. These squares are so cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy-
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new shop- it looks like you're starting out well! I love the quilt kit and the I spy squares. I just might have to get me some of those to stitch an I spy for my new little Sophie. Are you going to offer more than one set for a larger quilt?
Congratulations and best of luck with Etsy. I'm an etsy seller too. DARLING "I Spy" and terrific collection of squares. I'm off to check your etsy. I will tell you this...list a few things at a time and weekends are the best. Lots of traffic then. And re-list your items on occasion to keep them from getting buried on page 33! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your kind comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! Thanks for being in touch. Congrats on your shop. I love your I spy quilt--Garfield and Spongebob have been the exact reasons that we haven't had an I Spy quilt in the past! You're a genius.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new shop. I love the idea of being able to buy a kit with everything for the top, like your kit or to be able to buy the squares. I'd love to see more kits, maybe an I-spy for little girls or all animal prints. I'm sur eyou will be quite successful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.

Congratulations on your Etsy shop! So exciting. And I LOVE I-spy quilts. What a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I follow your blog, and saw you mention chicken pox. Here (Norway) it is considered better to have chicken pox as a child, so they don't sterilize, just send the sick child home. I had chicken pox as a grown up and have never been so sick!!! Got it from my eldst - so when my youngest had it - I was glad. Great blog!!!

Congrats! I just discovered this blog through craftgossip. I'd like to see more jelly roll kits and patterns in the world -- I'm a beginner at quilting and I love the variety of jelly rolls, but not that many people are making patterns for them. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteWhere are the pink and blue elephants from?

ReplyDeleteWould love to see more kits/ideas for using fabrics.
Congrats on your shop opening!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is just adorable!
I suggest opening your shop to Canadian buyers in addition to the US. The postage costs about the same (via USPS First Class), there are no strange restrictions on fabrics, and the only additional step is to slap one of those green customs labels on it.

ReplyDeleteYour quilt is great!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I are in the midst of making baby quilts for an auction to benefit "Phoenix Family Housing" here in Kansas City. We would love to win... we could use these squares and make another quilt!
Good on ya! I think that kit will be successful with older quilters who want their grandkids to have a quilt with motifs that resonate with them.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the quilt kit - cutting the fabric is not my greatest forte :) I see that the border is red, I think if you offer the border in yellow or blue (or just another color) it would give more options. I think the quilt overall rocks (and red is my fave color, but my sister would rather have blue LOL)
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your new shop.
ReplyDeleteiris iriss4@bezeqint.net
Wow, what a lovely quilt! The off-white/khaki checks really helps highlight all those bright colors!
ReplyDeleteI'm entering your giveaway b/c I've wanted to make an i-spy quilt for my niece for ages but can't really justify buying all that fabric! (I'm a graduate student, gotta eat! LOL) So this might just be how it gets done! Thanks for the chance and most importantly for all the creative inspiration! Congrats on your new shop. And good luck with the chicken pox!
I've been really behind in my reader -- I'm glad I didn't miss out!! Congrats on your new shop - your banner looks great :)
ReplyDeleteMy advice it timing your listings, spread them out so they show up in the searches, and more people shop in the evening IMO so I like to post in the afternoon.
i love it! you have the sweetest fabric!!!!
