Summer Sampler Quilt

I want to share a project I completed a few years ago, but just pulled out to hang up for summer. This quilt was the first block-of-the-month sampler quilt designed by the owner of American Quilting (the store where I work), Amy McClellan. You can tell she is a very talented designer! We started this one five years ago. (But I only finished it a couple of years ago.)

The quilting was done my my friend Sherri. She does an amazing job.
I also love the plaid bias-binding.

I’m proud of this quilt – by far the most intensive quilt I’ve completed. Lots of applique, paper piecing, etc. Most of my quilts are pretty simple in design, like just squares. So this one pushed me. It’s interesting to look back and see how my fabric and color choices have changed since that time. I’m a little more drawn to brighter colors and less folk art in style, but I still like to look at this one. And feel happy about it’s completion. :)

I missed that year! Not that I've finished the other four. :) I do have the pattern for that. The Summer one is still my favorite, maybe someday I'll get to it.
