This week I made one of those little ribbon-tagged baby lap quilts for a baby gift. One side is giant circles by Michael Miller. The other side is soft minkie fabric. My friend had her fourth baby boy, so I knew she was in good shape as far as clothes and toys go. It was fun to make something new and cute and useful at the same time.
This is a really simple, quick little gift. In fact, I should make more of them. (I wish I could share how I did it, but according to the original designers, I would need to retain a lawyer if I do.) I also love this project because it allows me to use my large ribbon stash. :) Which I got in at this place:American Crafts is a company in Utah that produces all kinds of craft supplies from scrapbook paper, ribbon, albums, stickers, etc. The past few years they've held a big warehouse sale in December. That is where I've stocked up on bolts of ribbon at really cheap prices. They've also got screaming deals on paper, pens, albums, embellishments, etc. This year I also got some cool iron decals for only $1 each. If you're local, you should totally check it out!
Here are some of my pretties from this year.
Since I understand that many of you loyal readers out there aren't local, I bought a little bit extra to share. If you want a chance to win some of your own, leave a comment. You have until midnight (MST) Monday Dec 6th. I'll pick two winners Tuesday morning. The first winner gets to pick two of the above bolts, second place gets the other two.Have fun and happy weekend!

Pick me, pick me! :D The ribbon blanket is lovely and the ribbons are beautiful. Embellishments like that truly can change the look of a project.

ReplyDeleteLove that ribbon! I wish I were local, the ribbon selection out here is not very good...
ReplyDeleteBeautifully made baby blanket!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised though, that there are so few people who react to the totally insane claim of having a copy right on sewing ribbons in projects. Are those people of Taggies themselves prepared to pay authors' rights to our grand- and great grandmothers that have been doing that for ages?! What a ridiculous notion that a company has developed an "authentic" and "original" process of sewing ribbons in their products!
oh, I have been wanting to make one of these for a long time. Thanks for the reminder. I love the ribbon and am sad to be moved to another state so I can't check out the sale. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDarn, I wish I lived closer! You can never have too much ribbons. Right?
