Sewing with the SLMQG

Attending a meeting of the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild has been on my list of things I'd like to do for a long time. They meet about 40 min away and reality is, it's hard to get away sometimes, as nice as that sounds. Last Saturday I finally made it! This time it was a sewing Saturday. Bring your sewing machine and food to share and hang out. I was so excited to be able to go!

You know it's going to be a lot of fun to spend a good hunk of time just eating and sewing. And talking. Which meant less sewing than I'd idealized getting done.  Didn't seem to stop the eating part though.  And you know that the people at a MQG sewing day are going to be fun people to hang out with. Hence the talking part.  It was extra fun because some of the girls there have blogs of their own so I feel like they are long lost friends already. Folks such as Erin, Brooke, Amy (Sukie), Colleen, and Kati.

I got to sit next to Ann-Marie while I sewed and was able to oogle her projects, including this quilt that I had randomly pinned on Pinterest recently.  Very fun to see it in living color!

Every time I go to some kind of sewing get-together I always tend to take way less photographs than I'd intended. But hey, at least I got a picture of my food: Colleen's Cranberry Bliss Bars (to die for) and Pink's (my un-photographed traveling companion) cookies. I exercised great self-control (well, not in the food department obviously) in resisting pilfering Ann-Marie's Katie Jump Rope quilt.

So if you get the chance to sew with a quilt guild - I highly recommend it. Because chances are, there are going to be fun people and good food there. Just be prepared to not actually sew as much as you think you will. :)
