I just returned from International Quilt Market - the fabric industry's spring trade show. This was my second opportunity to attend Market (last year was my first in my home town, Salt Lake City.) This year it was held in Kansas City. (Half the weekend I had the song, "Everything's Up To Date in Kansas City" running through my head. Name that musical!)
It was a weekend full of seeing lots gorgeous eye candy as well as talented, inspiring people. I woke up at an unearthly hour to fly home this morning, so I'm going to share my pictures and insights later this week when I've got my brain back to a coherent state. But come back tomorrow - I'm going to have a Market Loot Giveaway for SMS Giveaway Day!

Welcome home and thanks for sharing a bit of your time in KC! Looking forward to hearing all about it and all the new fabrics coming our way!
ReplyDeleteOklahoma! Great musical! But I would rather a day at quilt market! Maybe someday! Keep those pictures coming!

Can't wait to see your photos of Market Amy!
ReplyDeleteHappy you made it home safely. Looking forward to seeing more pics and hearing about your weekend. Smiles~Beth
ReplyDeleteOklahoma! And as far as quilting is concerned, everything is up to date in Kansas City. Can't wait to hear more about market!
ReplyDeleteCan you explain what Sample Spree is? I've heard a lot of talk about it, but being new to the quilting community I don't quite understand. Is it open to the public?
ReplyDeleteThat is a great question - I wondered the same thing for years until I saw it first hand. It's basically a market where the various vendors (fabric companies, patters publishers, notions, etc.) sell their wares to the retailers at wholesale prices. You have to be a credentialed Market attendee to go, but a separate ticket is required. And the line is CRAZY long. I think people start getting in line 5 hours or so before it starts. But you get to buy the fabric industry's latest collections at wholesale prices, so that's definitely appealing. :)
DeleteI did not go this year. It's definitely an experience to behold if you ever go.
Oklahoma! Was just on last weekend, caught my eye and I sat down and watched it. Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteLooking forwards to your pictures :) Hope you have some good recovery time :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see!

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all your pictures and here about all the great things you saw and did!
ReplyDeleteoooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOK- lahoma... It's my dream to go to quilt market... someday. Might not be good for my wallet, though, to see all those fabrics in person. "I'm just a girl who can't say no." ;)
ReplyDeleteLol! Love all the fellow Oklahoma viewers out there! :)
DeleteWelcome home Amy. So glad to hear you had such a wonderful time. I hope you get all the rest you need. Love ya.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I wish I could have been there. Infact, I had planned on it until wedding plans were made for June 1st in New Zealand. I'm excited to see pictures and hear of your adventures.
ReplyDeleteI sang that song the entire time I was there, too! My friends got tired of it.
ReplyDeleteI went to quilt market for the first time last year also. Had so much fun, and spent way too much money. Loved seeing your pictures
ReplyDeleteYEAH Market photos!!! I am so excited! Be sure to get enough rest and have some time for yourself to reflect :-)
ReplyDeleteAny pictures of the "other" Amy's booth?
ReplyDeleteI am soooo jealous of all the ladies that are able to go to Quilt Market. Someday I hope to go. Maybe I should add that to my bucket list, LOL!!! It looks like soooo much fun!!!
