Seaside Stars

My newest project.  Suddenly this week I felt the urge to play with stars and Riley Blake's new Seaside fabric collection is calling my name.
I love so many individual prints in this line, but I especially love the look they create combined as a whole.  I'm a sucker for primary colors and this collection makes them look like they come from a beachy-cottagey summer home.
Reminds me of our trip to Maine last year and my orange peel project I was working on back then. (I really should pull that out and finish it...)  I hope I can spend part of the day creating more stars.  You can find Seaside fabrics here, here, here and here.

Speaking of Riley Blake, the latest issue of the magazine, Where Women Create, has a gorgeous article by RB owner, Cindy Cloward, talking about the increased creativity inspired by the gorgeous fabrics in the sewing and quilting world and encouraging would-be-sewists to take advantages of the resources available online to learn new techniques and try new projects.
As a part of the article, there was a list of 25 inspirational & educational blogs. I was humbled (and totally thrilled!) to be a part of that list. There are some great resources there. Thank you, Cindy!

Happy 4th to those in the states. We kicked off our holiday celebration yesterday with a hike up "Y Mountain" in Provo, Utah. It was a gorgeous day for a hike with a balloon festival in the distance.  Sadly, the day ended with another local mountain catching fire in a nearby town, Alpine.  We're in no danger, but we could see the flames climbing the mountain, and it was crazy scary. We've had no rain in Utah for the past month and after a really mild winter everything is tinder-dry.  We're wishing we could siphon off some of the crazy storms in the north-west, east coast and the UK.  So we're saying extra prayers of gratitude for the fire crews who've had no respite for weeks and for the safety of those in harms way. Stay safe!

Ok Amy. You are very close to pushing me over the edge of purchasing Seaside in it's entirety! I LOVE that collection and have been so good, then I saw Allison's tutorial and now your cute little star .... oy! You girls are killing me! :o)
Those fires must be terrifying. My heart aches for those who have lost so much. My prayers are being said for you all as well. The views you shared, from your hike are breath taking. Just gorgeous landscape! :o) Oh gosh, I LOVE your orange peel project. I would love to learn how to make that block. :o)
love ya! Trish

We are having a drought here in the midwest, but it is nothing like what you are suffering out west. Our prayers go out to all of you. Praying for rain.
