Summer Lovin'

Lots of WIP's (works-in-progress) at the moment.  I've been binding my Seaside Stars quilt while watching Olympic swimmers and gymnasts and any other athletes the broadcast throws at me. (Like those synchronized divers. Holy smokes.)  I need to finish writing up a pattern for this one and then I will share the finished quilt.
I've also been quilting away at this project for what feels like For.Evah.  It will look really awesome when it's all done, but I'm gradually loosing steam as I plug away at it on my trusty Bernina.  Normally I don't mind monotonous mundane tasks as much as the next person (for example, I really like vacuuming and ironing) but not so much sewing straight-line echo quilting for hours on end, I've discovered.  Pattern in the works for this quilt too...
But that's probably not likely to happen in the extreme near future.  Summer vacation is quickly barreling to a close - and we're trying to pack in as much as we can before it ends. I can't believe it.  We had a camping trip earlier this week, this weekend is my 20-year-high-school-reunion (not sure how I feel about that one yet) and we're cramming in a trip to Yellowstone, tickets to Wicked, and as many last trips to the water park as we can manage before school starts in 2.5 weeks. Craziness.

So if I'm scarce for a bit with either posting or responding to emails, you'll understand why.

But not to worry - there is still lots of fun ahead in the month of August.  Later this month I'll be sharing a tutorial using this Summerlove collection from Art Gallery Fabrics - my first contribution as a Fat Quarter Gang member. (Isn't that a gorgeous palette?)
And later in the month a free pattern and tutorial for this quilt using Sarah Jane's Out to Sea collection which arrives in stores any time.  If you're anxious to start something with Out to Sea even sooner, check in with Sarah Jane's blog for patterns and tutorials for pillows, dresses and even your own Mr. Narwhal mounted head! Because if that doesn't say summer, I don't know what does.

  1. So much I want to comment on in this post! First, I'm excited about the pattern/tute for the Out to Sea quilt; 2nd, love your ironing/tv table (I just made one myself!), 3rd, love your orange peel and seaside stars quilts, etc., etc.

  4. I have never done echo quilting. Probably for the reason you have stated. It can be mundane and tedious. I do however think it is beautiful when done. great job for persevering and sticking it out. The quilt will be lovely when done.
    Loving that sailboat fabric and country fabric at the end of the post.

  9. You will absolutely LOVE 'Wicked'. I work for a travel company and I have seen the production three times in Los Angeles. Have fun! Oh yeah, love those fabrics.
