Classic Modern Quilts

I'm excited to share a little more about the Classic Modern Quilts book today as part of a blog tour.
All of the quilts in this book are based on traditional quilt blocks and then given a modern spin. All of the contributors also discuss their thoughts on modern quilting. This is the quilt I contributed for this book. You can read more about my Modern Red Cross quilt here.

Here is a sneak peak of a few of the other quilts in the book. This one is called Blaze by Adrianne Ove.
 Electric Fans by Susan Strong
King's Treasure by Lynne Goldsworty

You can read more about Classic Modern Quilts and it's contributors at the My Stars blog as well as at these stops on the tour:

  9. Amy, I love your quilt in the book. It is such a clever way of putting together the design and I like the way you can see two different design depending on how you look at it. Did you quilt it or have someone else? Is that the 'square dance' pattern? I used that on a modern quilt I did and LOVE the design.

  43. I don't know if you're giving away outside of the US, so jump over my name if you aren't! (I'm in Canada.)

I mostly just wanted to say that that quilt is really beautiful! The colours are so classic and it just looks crisp and lovely. I'm a little intrigued by the fact that it doesn't ping me as being an Americana type quilt - usually red, white, and blue quilts feel very American to me, even though many many many countries use those three colours in their flags - and I'm curious why it doesn't. I just can't figure it out! (Maybe it's because the colours are so crisp, and it's often more of a greyed out navy for the blues if it is more USA-themed? I mean, obviously, not having stars or stripes makes a difference, but lots of red, white, and blue quilts without those elements still make me thing USA. I just don't know.)
