Gift Certificate giveaway from Bobbie Lou’s Fabric Factory

I’m so excited to introduce a new fabric shop today, Bobbie Lou’s Fabric Factory. This etsy shop is run by Chelsea and inspired by and named after her grandmother Bobbie Lou who loved to sew.
Chelsea has a great eye for unique, colorful fabric and her shop is stocked with a great variety, including lots of fabrics that are rare finds.
Some recent collections include Sweet as Honey by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics. I’m so in love with those Beehives and the Honeycomb especially.
Another recent Art Gallery collection in stock is Leah Duncan’s Meadow. Fabric is available not only in yardage, but Fat Quarter cuts as well.
Chelsea also has a fun variety of nautical themed fabrics including collections from Michael Miller and Riley Blake.

But I think the thing I love most about Bobbi Lou’s is the huge variety of whimsical prints that are “off the beaten path”. For example a large selection of Alexander Henry prints including bright dia de los muertos themed prints, as well as unique prints from Camelot fabrics and Cloud 9 fabrics.

Seriously, if your style is loud, whimsical, and full of saturated color, or if you’re just trying to get out of a creative funk, you will love Bobbie Lou’s selection! Also a great resource if you’re looking for I-spy prints (including in the Clearance selection.) I think it’s one of a kind shop.

And today Chelsea is generously giving away a $50 Gift Certificate towards anything in her shop to one of you! To enter take a quick trip to Bobbie Lou Fabric Factory and leave a comment here sharing something that you love. For a second entry, follow @BobbieLouFabrics on Instagram, and leave a comment letting me know. GIVEAWAY CLOSED.

I-spy baby quilt + i-spy charm packs available

One of my favorite go-to baby gifts is an i-spy quilt made from different fabrics with little motifs like animals, vehicles, etc., that you can hunt for or play “i-spy” with.
The design for this quilt is a classic checker-board pattern, but the i-spy prints give the quilt an added element you can play with.

I like to use the Essex cotton/linen blend by Robert Kaufman as the off-set blocks because they give some added texture and contrast to the quilt. (You can find it here, and here.) Not to mention when the quilt is washed, the linen shrinks and crinkles up so nicely, giving the quilt a nice vintage feel. I have a simple pattern for this i-spy quilt in my etsy shop.

I had the perfect backing in my stash – a Moda print by Jan Figuroa from a few years ago with more items to spy! The quilting is a simple meander loop by Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting.

I’ve been collecting cute (not cheesy) i-spy prints for a while now and finally had them all cut up to sell. I’ve done this in the past and most likely this will be the last round I will do this. Each set is made up of 65 different 3 1/2″ squares, all of high quality quilting fabrics.
Here is a close-up of some of the prints. All of the prints in the above photos are in the charm packs in my shop. Also, if you buy a charm pack the baby quilt pattern is included for free! You can find the I-spy Charm Packs here. And they are SOLD OUT. Holy Moly that was so much faster than I expected. Thank you so much to those who bought them!
I am also listing copies of the book Modern Baby in the etsy shop. This book contains patterns for 14 fresh, modern baby quilts by a variety of modern quilt designers and bloggers.
Martingale - Modern Baby
One of my favorite is this pattern by Shea Henderson.
This book also contains the pattern for this quilt by yours truly. (It is charm pack and jelly-roll friendly.) You can see more quilts from this book here. For a short time, I am listing this book at 40% off! To buy Modern Baby visit my etsy shop
Thank you so much to all of you who have supported my etsy shop for almost 5 years now. I-spy kits were one of the first things I ever stocked. I’m blown away by all that has happened since then. Thank you, THANK YOU!

I’m in France!

Okay, I’m not in France, but some of my creations are! I was so excited checking on Design Mom last week (did you know they’re living in France right now? Sounds dreamy!) to see a little quilt I made spread under the Eiffel Tower.
Seems appropriate because there’s even a cute little Eiffel Tower on the quilt itself.

Here’s another shot of the quilt.  I knew Gabby back in college days and she was gracious enough to ask me to guest post on Design Mom a couple of years ago when I was a very new blogger. I sent her the quilt as a thank you. Fun to see that little quilt go on an international adventure!

Also, last week, my hoops made the front page of the French sewing site Thread and Needles. Fantastique!

I studied French in high school and college and got fairly fluent – at least I could understand most of what was being said, if I couldn’t exactly express myself well.  Now those skills have tragically fallen by the wayside – all I really use them for lately is reading the names of French General fabric collections. Oh well, c’est la vie. I’ll have to get on Thread and Needles more often to brush up on my francais and for now live vicariously through Gabby’s adventures. Vive La France!

PS Don’t forget the Vintage Sheet bunting giveaway ends tonight. Thanks for all the vintage love – I wish I had more to share with all of you!

I-Spy Kit Shop Update

I just listed a few I-spy kit options in my Etsy Shop – including a new pattern.
(I know. It’s been a long time in the coming.)
There are a few options to choose from including the original listing of 45 different 3 ½” squares for $12.95. These squares are great for a children’s quilt – I’ve also been using them for my hexies.
There is a new addition this time: packs of 61 different 3 ½” squares for $18.95 This is the number needed to make the quilt pictured above. A copy of the PDF pattern for the above quilt is included in the price.

This pattern is also available for purchase in PDF format in my Pattern Shop
or at Etsy for $4.95.
EDIT: Everything is gone! Whoa – that was faster than I expected! Thank you.
I will make more kits again in a few months. Patterns always available!

This is the only time I will be listing I-spy Charm Packs or kits until the end of the year. (Patterns will be available continuously.) I have some new kits and projects in the works and plan to list more items soon, but probably won’t have time to cut more I-spy blocks until after Christmas.

Thank you so much for your interest and support of my little etsy business. These etsy updates are often sporadic these days because of the stage of life I’m at. As a result I’m not often able to do custom orders. But I am so grateful to each person who puts their trust in my goods. My goal is always to provide something useful and of high quality – something I would feel worthy of spending my own hard-earned money on.   If ever you are not satisfied with anything you purchase I am happy to amend your purchase or refund your money.  Many thanks again!

CLOSED – Giveaway Day!

Hello friends! Welcome to Sew Mama’s Giveaway Day.
This is always a fun event – I can’t wait to see what else is out there.
Connect here to see more.  Oodles more. Like, it may just blow your mind.
My giveaway this year is representative of personal favorites of mine.
This year I am giving away one of my custom cut, I-spy Charm Packs from my Etsy shop. This little bundle of goodness contains 45 pre-cut 3 1/2″ squares, each with a different I-spy novelty print.  I’m especially fond of vintage reproductions and Japanese prints.
Here’s a little sample of what you’ll find inside! I used these blocks to make the quilt in the previous post.(If you’ve recently purchased one of these charm packs, and you win the randomly-selected drawing, I will refund your purchase!)
Second, (yep, that’s right. Two giveaways with two winners!)
is a collection of 8 different FQ’s all from vintage linens.
I’ve been collecting vintage sheets for a while now, wanting to make a quilt.
So I’ve cut-up the remnants into fat quarters.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment. Short and simple so that you can get looking at other giveaways.  This giveaway will be open until the end of Thursday, May 20.  Have fun!

Finished I-spy

I recently finished this I-spy quilt for a friend.
I made one like it last year and gave that away.
I fell in love all over again with this one. Almost didn’t let it go.
Maybe I should finally just make one to keep!

I’ve also restocked I-spy Charm packs in the shop.

Here is some other upcoming fun:

Monday starts Sew Mama Sew’s Spring Giveaway week.  Come back here because I’m participating!

The following week is Amy’s Quilt Festival. This is always an amazing collection of quilts.  I’m in the process of binding the one I’m going to share. It’s one that’s been in the works for a L O N G time, but I’m finally finishing! Hurrah.
