Summer vacation has officially started at our house. Just finished Day #2 yesterday. Day #1 consisted in part of extracting a sliver from the foot of a 5-yr-old (always an adventure), a trip to the Doctor for another kid that I thought had pink eye (just allergies, fortunately) and the discovery that the neighbor kids along our street have the stomach flu! I guess we’re officially off and running!
My projects have relocated to the kitchen table so that I can be along side the Moon Sand action (or Playdoh, water colors, legos, perler beads, what have you) and I can more readily heed the on going call for popsicles.
I have to admit, I’ve been slightly petrified for summer vacation to start. Last summer I nearly checked myself into the funny farm. I’ve adjusted schedules, routines and expectations this year for the kids, but mainly for myself and I think it will make a difference. The main difference is that I want to do better about living in the moment.
One thing I am going to do differently this summer is blog less. Or at least more simply. I tried to keep blogging as usual last summer and it was too much for me and my family. I know I won’t totally abandon blogging because I like to sew in the summer and I know I’ll want to share. But the posts will be simpler and fewer. Which is probably a win-win for everyone since I think everybody is just busier in the summer whether it’s kids, gardens & yard work, vacations, shop-hops, and those iron-woman triathalons you’ve all entered. So really, you have less time to read my mindless drivel anyway! But we’ll still hang out and catch-up from time to time. This will just give us all a little more time to run though the sprinklers and eat Popsicles if we feel so inclined.
I’m going to try to keep up on emails and such, but if I get a little stinkier than usual at that, you’ll know why. Please feel free to pester me again if I don’t get back to you right away.
PS Thanks SO much for the Soul Blossom Quilt love. I’m working on the kits and the patterns this week. I will post when they are available to order. Thanks again!
