I am starting to feel a little bit productive on the sewing front. It’s happened in random bits and pieces, but I’ve gradually been trying to finish UFO’s (UnFinished Objects) in particular. I’ve had a bunch of projects like this one that just needed borders or backs or bindings. I worked on this quilt top on and off since the beginning of the year. It’s always a good feeling to finally finish something, isn’t it? I’m typically guilty of starting 4 new things before I finish something I’ve already started.
For the back, I wanted to only pull from the stash, so I used my AGF remnants and any random gray solids that I had on hand.
This quilt is another quilt way out of my normal color palette comfort zone. I thoroughly enjoyed making this quilt again and love the outcome. I think the colors give the pattern a slightly newer, more current edge by using the gray for the background. For the dark gray I used Kona Charcoal. I have to admit I don’t know what the light gray is – just a solid I had on had that cooperated nicely with the Charcoal.

August 7, 2013 at 9:14 amThis is too funny! I made your Chain Linked pattern in two shades of grey with Moda's Juggling Summer line, then had Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting use the Square Dance pattern on it as well!! I am expecting it back from her any day now and judging by how fabulous yours turned out, I can't wait to see mine. Great pattern!!

August 12, 2013 at 8:24 pmLOL! I know Amy! When I pulled your quilts out of the package and saw this one, It was like Deja-vu. It looks great! I even chose the same density that Amy Smart likes. Hope you love it when it gets there!

August 7, 2013 at 5:37 pmThis is a wonderful quilt and quilt pattern. You really brought the pattern to life. I can imagine fussy cut pieces inside the squares, or even panel pieces cut inside. I will get this pattern. You convinced me! Thank you.

August 8, 2013 at 2:19 pmI love the play of light and dark in this, it's funny in the first pic I could swear the charcoal stands out more, but then the lower full version it seems the light grey does

August 9, 2013 at 12:30 amSew glad to see your remake of Chain Linked, Amy! I have always felt it is a fabulous design and those featured fabrics really pop against that gray background. The quilting design certainly does not detract from the quilt but just adds to it! Congrats on the lovely finish!
