Today I have an awesome pink and red giveaway from Massdrop, just in time for Valentine’s Day. I’ve mentioned Massdrop before, but if you’re unfamiliar, let me introduce you. Massdrop is an online retailer, but not in a traditional sense. They’re more like a broker, helping consumers get a lower price on desirable items by negotiating bulk pricing with the vendors. They list new offers or “drops” daily. The item is only available for about a week and as more people opt into the “drop” the price goes down.
By clicking Join Now – you are committed to buy the product, no matter what drop point is reached. If you click the “Commit to Join” button, you will only purchase the item if the lowest price is met by the end of the drop. You can opt out before the drop ends and you are not officially charged until the “drop” ends. You can read more about how it all works on the Massdrop FAQ’s page.
Last fall I purchased some of the Cotton+Steel bundles that were offered and ended up getting them at a great price. Part of the reason Massdrop can bring great prices is because they don’t order the product until the drop ends and there is a known number of orders. The items are shipped soon thereafter, so keep in mind that this you’re not going to get immediate gratification as your item will be delivered about a week or so after the drop ends. Personally, I’m okay with that because I like the discount.
If this concept intrigues you, check out some of Massdrop’s past crafting drops, including great basics like Oliso Irons, Aurifil Thread (I love this collection of neutrals), Olfa rotary blades, popular fabric collections, etc. If you see something that interests you from past drops, click on the item and click on the request button. When enough requests are generated Massdrop will work on getting another similar drop. I think it’s some really cool – and useful stuff. And when you find a deal you really want, tell your friends so that price will drop!
One current drop going on this week is a package of 100 Wonderclips. I am a total fan of wonderclips – I love using them for holding my binding in place while I hand sew it down. My family is a fan also since they walk bare-footed with a lot less fear and trepidation of stepping on an errant pin. (I’m not exaggerating this one.)
A package of these retails at $59.99 at big box stores. Right now they are listed at $31.99 on Massdrop. And if another 30+ people commit to the drop, the price goes down to $29.99. A total bargain!
Just for fun, Massdrop is offering to giveaway an Oliso Iron AND a package of 100 Wonderclips to one of you! To enter to win, all you need to do is click here for Massdrop and sign up for an account. This way you’ll get updates about the latest drops and since drops only run for a certain amount of time – about a week – the updates keep you filled on the latest happenings. If you already have an account, leave a comment here sharing something you’d love to see in a future drop to be entered in the giveaway.
Giveaway open until Saturday, February 14 at midnight, MST. That’s it! Massdrop will pick a winner and notify you by the beginning of the next week.
You can also keep up with Massdrop on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
