It's fun to be surrounded by talented, creative women who also are covered in thread and love fabric. None of these projects are mine. I loved all the inspiration. (Clockwise from top left: Sandy Klop star, Mischelle and her rainbow beauty, someone's half-square-triangle star, Amber with her Single Wedding Ring quilt.
More inspiration: Marion with her new saw-tooth blocks, gorgeous Cotton+Steel quilt by Cheryl, spiderweb block by April, and Fig Tree blocks by Mary.
I brought along some of my own WIP's to work on and got a lot done. (woo!) This circle of goodness is a conglomeration of my stash of Denyse Schmidt prints combined with Alison Glass Handcrafted (available here and here). First of all, I love how Denyse Schmidt's fabrics over many collections play so well together. Second, I think DS and Alison Glass are a match made in heaven.
Here's the end result of that pile o' goodness. Turned out even better than I'd hoped. Yes. I'm in love. I made it using my Hopscotch pattern. Originally made from Kona Solids, I've wanted to do a print version for sometime. Now to get the borders on and get it quilted. ASAP. The neutral fabrics in this quilt at Robert Kaufman's Quilter's Linen in Beige and Riley Blakes La Creme with gray polkadots.
I also finally pieced my vintage sheet quilt. Yay! (but failed to get a decent picture of it. boo.) I think I cut out these squares about 4-5 years ago. I had some of the rows pieced, but I think the last time I worked on it was at this same retreat 2 years ago. Now to find the perfect back for this one. Another UFO/WIP almost off the list.
While there I also did a trunk show of some of my quilts from Fabulously Fast Quilts and elsewhere.
In addition I finished two over-due Bee-blocks and got started on this other pile of inspiration. This quilt is for a friend. She chose the palette and I'm totally digging it. It's my first time making a "white" quilt and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Too funny about the "capris"! I ran away to the Sewing & Quilt Expo in Atlanta this week and today I started getting frantic texts from my 8th grader about missing the deadline to order his cap and gown for graduation. ...And WHY couldn't Daddy handle that one?! Mystery of the Universe!! Glad you had fun at your retreat.

This retreat was called Cabin Fever. It was originally hosted by Emily Herrick. I think they're considering doing one in the fall. You can find her contact info on her blog: https://crazyoldladiesquilts.blogspot.com/

Welcome to WordPress Amy -- your new site looks fabulous! Your newest post showed up in feedly, but not here on the blog -- don't know is that was intentional or not. Just wanted to say Happy Belated Birthday and love your new digs!!!

looking forward to seeing this :white: quilt. I mode one for my daughter-in-law of shades of tans, ecrus, and browns. It was lovely with just tonal differences!

YOU lifted my heart in Indiana Winter time....makes me miss our cabin!!...Just perjecto! Amy!...we moved here a year ago after a couple wanted to buy our mini farm in SC...they were from Long Island NY!!....so! we moved! near our youngest son and kids....I just connected with a lady from a church that has a small quilting and craft ministry going....Hoping to share my fabric wealth with them!! My youngest sister and I had a small quilt shop for awhile; so I still have ALOT of 1800 reproduction fabrics!!...time to "let it go"...haha...so you can see how I NEED to quilt and get going again...I even have a longarm to set up in the garage....we downsized and so, yes, our garage is still full....a big difference from our first home after my Hub was in Viet Nam a year....we had a small pull behind Uhaul trailer....and our sweet 9 month old baby girl, born while he was gone.......God bless you and your family and friends...Love you, Amy!!!
