Have you heard about Lori Holt’s free Bloom Sew Along? This is my version of Block 7. I love how it turned out! I think I’m going to make a bunch more.
The Bloom Sew a long is a free series of block tutorials by Lori using her Sew Simple Shapes as templates.
For my version of Lori’s blocks, I’m using the new Vintage Kitchen collection from Riley Blake combined with their classic Swiss Dot. I love the retro vibe in these prints!
I made one minor change to the block, adding a second circle to the flower. I used shape A-1 for this second circle. I felt like I needed a solid to break up and better show off the different, busy prints.
And lest you think everything runs smooth all the time around here, let me share something from the blooper reel. I was happily, and a little smuggly perhaps, glue-basting my applique shapes, when this happened. Yes, that is a giant glob of glue. D’oh. That’ll be a lesson to make sure the lid is screwed on tight and not to squeeze too hard. Thank goodness washable glue really is washable. 😉
