There has been a lot of sewing going on behinds the scenes around here for the past few months – including most of the quilts in this pile.
This week, these quilts an I are off to Denver, Colorado to get glammed-up and look pretty for the camera as we shoot a class for Craftsy! I’m a wee bit excited (and slightly terrified). I’ll look forward to showing off the quilts to all of you in just a few weeks.
To tide you over: here’s a taste of the some of the fabrics I’ve been working with – this is Backyard Roses designed by Nadra of Ellis and Higgs and available new this month from Riley Blake Fabrics (I’ve seen it from LouLou’s Fabric Shop, Pink Castle Fabric shop, Westwood Acres, and the Fat Quarter Shop.)
And here’s a sneak peak of two of the quilts. Wonderful quilting by Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting. Fabrics are Bread and Butter by American Jane (previously seen in this post. Available from Fort Worth Fabric Studio, DinkyDoo fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop, and Lady Belle Fabrics.)
The other quilt is made from Sherri and Chelsea’s newest collection for Moda called Valley. It has a really cool modern, southwest feel. Great colors and prints – I especially love that gold. (Valley is available from Green Fairy Quilts, DinkyDoo, Fat Quarter Shop, and Southern Fabric.)
I’ll able to share the full quilt reveals in just a few weeks when the class goes live. I promise to let you know as soon as it does! (In the meantime, please do not be deceived by what looks like a very clean sewing room. This picture is all about strategic camera angles. That big stack is hiding a lot of clutter. Hopefully life will slow down in the next month or so and I’ll get that room under control. Just in time for the chaos that is summer vacation.)
Also, because I know someone will ask: the darling thread catcher next to my machine was made by my friend Emily using the Sewing Chick’s Thread Catcher tutorial.
Finally, one more special quilt to share. This quilt was a collaboration by 49 women as a gift of love to our sweet friend Andy who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer only a few months ago. Andy has been through surgery and is still in treatment, and fortunately the prognosis at the end looks good. I’m so grateful to be a part of a community that rallies to support a friend in need of some extra love.
The block for this quilt is a slightly enlarged version of Amy Sinibaldi‘s free Half Hearted block pattern.

A-ha! That’s why you were in Denver. I didn’t think you were here just to go to a Fancy Tiger.

I know I will love your Craftsy class. Congratulations on that! The fabrics in your photos are great. BTW, I put together a quilt top yesterday using the Hello Darling Jolly Bar I won in your blogiversary giveaway. The pattern I used is Twizzle by Buttons and Butterflies, and, coincidentally, she used Hello Darling for her model. 🙂
