You may remember a couple of months ago I was working on a new tree skirt using Caroline Critchfield’s Tree Skirt video class on Craftsy. I finished the tree skirt a while back and was so excited to put it to use under my tree!
And here’s the full effect. I’m so happy with how this one turned out. AND I really loved making this project!
Caroline’s instructions are super clear and easy to follow. She uses a strip-piecing method perfect for 2 1/2″ precut strips and a quilt-as-you-go technique for quilting the tree-skirt, making the project come together SO quickly and really easy to complete on your home sewing machine.
When I finish some projects, I just want to check them off the list and not make them again, but this project, I would totally make again in a heartbeat.
I used a collection of the Riley Blake Gold Sparkle fabrics (available here, and here) for my tree skirt, with the gold snowflakes on the back side, so that I can reverse it if I want a less-busy look.
It looks so pretty with my gold and red tree. I’m super pleased.
I highly recommend Caroline’s Quilted Tree Skirt Class. You can find it here, on Craftsy. And I have a coupon for 25% off the class cost* making it only $7.50 for a really great pattern with an hour of detailed video step-by-step instruction. (The coupon is already applied in the link and will show up when you click Add to Cart.)
And speaking of gold sparkle – here’s a little sneak peek of another project in the works:
I’ve been using my Destiny II embroidery machine to machine embroider this Merry and Bright design in gold on some of the plaids I bought this year. I think they turned out pretty snazzy. Soon to be made into finished gifts!
More Christmas sewing to come!
