I’m so excited to share another one of my new quilt patterns released in conjunction with my Sunnyside Ave fabric collection.
This pattern has been on my list to write for sometime now. It’s a fun, strip-pieced project, speeding up the assembly process, and is perfect for using pre-cut 2 ½″ strips (aka Rolie Polies and Jelly Rolls).
This pattern is called A Bushel and a Peck. It’s perfect for a really scrappy look. The choice of background fabric really lets the fabrics pop, and as you can see, you could give it a light background or a dark background to really change-up the overall look. I used the navy blue micro dot from the Sunnyside Ave collection on this throw-size variation.
I used the Confetti Cotton in Riley White for the background of this crib-size version for a totally different feel. Binding is the bias red plaid print and I LOVE the way it pops against the crisp white! This design obviously works well for a scrappy look, but I think it would also look fantastic in a monochromatic design. (That’s next on my list to try.)
The Bushel and a Peck pattern instructions are available in Crib, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King size options! You can find it in PDF or Hard Copy Paper format in my shop, or hopefully in your favorite local or online retailer.
Also, word has it that Riley Blake is kitting the throw-size variation and kits will also be available from your favorite shop! You can find them available from JK Quilts, In the mean time, hopefully you can find Sunnyside Ave at your favorite local shop.
If you are looking online you can find it in these shops: Lou Lou’s Fabric Shop, Lady Belle Fabrics, the Fat Quarter Shop, Brew Stitched, Simply Love Fabrics, Judith’s Quilts, and MSQC.

Did you see this fun Playground Quilt tutorial by Andy Knowlton of A Bright Corner last week? You can find the full tutorial on her blog.
In other very fun news, this week I’m collaborating with Maker Valley on Instagram! If you’re not famililar with the team behind Maker Valley, let me introduce you: Holly and Dave Lesue are the talented (and hilarious) husband and wife team who create clever craft and sewing-themed apparel and collector enamel pins.
(I have a bunch of Maker Valley tees that I live in.)
We have teamed up this week and will share a series of ideas featuring our collaborative designs. At the end of the week, the designs will be put to a vote and the winner will be produced and sold on MakerValleyBrand.com.
We’ll both be sharing the designs on Instagram all week, but all of the voting will take place over @MakerValley, so be sure to follow there in order to vote and add input on your favorites! (And you can check out all of Holly’s beautiful quilts while you’re at it!)
Another thing: don’t forget that this is the last day to enter the Sunnyside Ave fat quarter bundle giveaway as well as take advantage of the 20% off sale at Lady Belle Fabrics.
Last of all, I’ve been receiving so many great scrappy log cabin quilt blocks in the mail from the March Sew Goodness Challenge. THANK YOU! There’s still plenty of time if you want to contribute. You can find all of the details here. Feel free to share with a friend! I will be posting info on the April challenge at the beginning of next week!
