Crossweave Crib Quilt – Precuts Friendly

Last week I shared the large scale version of my new Crossweave quilt pattern – today I’m excited to share the crib (or baby) size variation of this pattern. It’s perfect for precuts or just cutting into your favorite scrappy stash.

This variation works perfectly with precuts  5″ x 5″ squares (aka 5″ stackers or Charm packs) and 2 1/2″ strips (Rolie Polies or Jelly Rolls) or 10″ x 10″ squares (10″ Stackers or Layer Cakes).

You may remember this fabric pull that I shared a few weeks ago.

For this variation I pulled together a mashup of some of my favorite recent Riley Blake prints, including (starting in top left and working down the columns): Blossom BasicsSimple Goodness by Tasha Noel, May Belle by Pleasant Home, Vintage Keepsakes by Bev McCullough, Little Red in the Woods (center column available here and here), Gretel (available here, here, and here) and some prints from Sunnyside Ave and Gingham Girls.

I also used the main print from Jill Howarth’s Little Red in the Woods collection for the backing. I’m such a sucker for Jill’s adorable illustrations. Don’t you just love that cute Little Red and her granny? Even the wolf is charming.

Red binding is also from Little Red in the Woods.

I love busting out of the restraints of just using one line and mixing in a big variety of coordinating colors. Using a variety of collections also gives you a variety of shades of a particular color, (in this case reds, pinks, and aquas) giving the quilt more depth and visual interest.

Adorable quilting on this one is by Melissa of Sew Shabby quilting.  I chose the Little Flowers all over design and it works perfect on this busy quilt. Gives it some softer, rounded texture.

Here’s another variation of this pattern using a monochromatic + white contrast for the design to give you an idea of another look for this quilt. (I made this version years ago for a book that is now out of print. Hence the reason I’m releasing the pattern now myself!)

The crib size version of this quilt measures 38 1/2″ x 49 1/2″ but you could easily reduce or expand the quilt size if you want.

You can find the Crossweave pattern in my shop (available in PDF download or Hard Copy formats). The Large Crossweave version is also included in this 16-page booklet. Today is the last day to get the pattern for 25% off!

The Hard Copy versions are finally on their way from the printer (sorry for the delay) and will be shipping tomorrow.

I needed to make a baby quilt in December 2018, and picked this quilt from all the baby quilts I found online. I tracked down the book with your pattern and bought it used. The quilt turned out so cute and the new parents loved it!

Oh, that’s so great! I’m glad you were able to track down a pattern when you needed it! It’s still one of my favorites to play with.
