Crossweave Precuts-friendly Quilt Pattern

I’m releasing a new quilt pattern today! This is a quilt is a variation of two quilts I’ve shared previously but the instructions have only been available from other outlets. I get inquiries about this quilt design frequently and so I’m now publishing them together as a stand-alone pattern.

The pattern is called Crossweave and is available now in my shop. It’s both beginner-friendly  and precuts-friendly. The baby version is perfect for 5″ precuts & 2 1/2″ strips or 10″ precuts. I’ll be sharing more photos of that version coming soon.

The larger variation is perfect for 10″ squares and 2 1/2″ strips or Fat Quarters. This size is the Throw size (finishing at 63″ x 73 1/2″). The pattern also includes Twin, Queen, and King size instructions.

This quilt was made using a brand new fabric collection from Minki Kim for Riley Blake Designs called Someday.

The Someday collection is a pretty combination of pinks, blues, and neutrals. I love Minki Kim’s dainty style. The colors are both fresh and classic. I threw in a few Riley Blake basics – Kisses in Raspberry and Vintage White, as well as a Raspberry and Navy Confetti Cottons.

Someday is shipping to stores now or you can find it for pre-order from the Fat Quarter Shop.

I think my favorite print (if forced to choose) would be that sweet navy floral. I used it for the binding for that very reason. The quilting on this quilt is an allover floral design (which I love for giving some texture to these large-scale blocks) by Sew Shabby Quilting.

I love this quilt for a few reasons: it’s simple and effective. It’s perfect for precuts (10″ squares or ‘Layer Cakes’ and 2 1/2″ strips or Rolie Polies/Jelly Rolls) not only because half the cutting is already done, but because it’s a great quilt for a simple scrappy feel and precuts give you a great variety of coordinating prints

You can find the Crossweave pattern in my pattern shop now. And it’s on sale 25% off this week! The PDF version is available for immediate download. The paper Hard Copy version is available for Pre-sale right now and will ship at the beginning of next week.

(This pattern will also be available to shops for wholesale distribution soon. Check back next week with Checker or Christensen Wholesale, or contact me directly at amy@diaryofaquilter.com for inquiries.)

Well timed, I’ve been contemplating doing something like this for a quick project. You’ve done the math for me! I don’t mind the math, but sometimes you just wnat to jump in and sew already. Good luck with the pattern.

Cute quilt! Reminds me of the Union Jack Flag for some reason. Not sure if that was your intention but I love it! 🙂

Amy I’m in the market to buy a new machine. I would like a quilting embroidery machine. Can you recommend a good machine that doesn’t break the bank.

Hi Lynn! Luckily, there are a wide variety of embroidery machines available. I have loved my Baby Lock embroidery machine. I would recommend finding the Baby Lock dealer near you. That way they can give you the best oversight of your options and you can test the variety of machines and find the right one for your budget. I also recommend buying from a dealer because that way, if you decide to upgrade at some point, the dealer will take your machine as a trade in for a newer or more advanced model.

(If you don’t have a Baby Lock dealer in your area, I would find the best sewing machine dealer in your community and start with them.)
