New Patchwork Forest Quilt Pattern: Pine Hollow Version

I’m so excited to finally share a brand new finished quilt and brand new pattern! You may remember the Christmas quilt I teased a couple weeks ago, well here is the finished quilt. This one is called Pine Hollow – Patchwork Forest Quilt Pattern

This is a new variation on the popular Patchwork Forest improve trees pattern.  However, this one has trees in multiple sizes and the addition of optional improve stars and is available now in my shop

This patchwork forest quilt pattern is Fat Quarter friendly and is available in both Hard Copy and PDF formats. The finished size of this version is 72″ x 90″. Without the borders the quilt finishes at 59″ x 78″.

This quilt uses the same improv technique as the original Patchwork Forest tree quilt, but the variety of sizes and stars give it an even scrappier feel. Due to the improv nature of this quilt, no two quilts will be the same.

This pattern is named after on of my favorite spots for winter hiking in the mountains close to my home. It’s so stunning and magical in the fresh snow. I love the quiet solitude in the winter – it’s one of my happy places.

I’m planning to do a quilt along for this quilt starting in September, which will give you plenty of time to get this one finished before Christmas! So stay-tuned for some more fun samples and kit options, or start gathering your favorite fat quarters now. (I’ve got a new color scheme planned for my next version and I’m so excited!)

This is such a fun pattern for playing with a variety of shades and patterns to give the quilt lots of visual interest.

For this version I used lots of Riley Blake Designs basics including Kisses, Swiss Dots, and woven ginghams in addition to some of their latest Christmas collections including Merry & Bright and Winterberry.

You can also find a kit to make this quilt, including many of these fabrics, here.

Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting did the quilting on this one. We tried the Sashiko pattern and I love how it turned out. Lots of great texture and complements the fir trees perfectly.

Here’s Another Variation of this Tree Quilt

But this quilt doesn’t need to be a Christmas quilt. Here’s a version made with my upcoming fabric collection, Sugarhouse Park that will be released this fall! (You can also see what the quilt looks like without borders.)

Don’t forget, the pattern is now available in my shop in PDF or Hard Copy formats. And I hope you’ll join the quilt along fun in September! Stay tuned for all of the fun details!

ATTENTION: There was a printer’s error in the Hard Copy versions of this pattern. 🙁 If page 6 of your pattern is confusing and does not say LARGE TREE BLOCK at the top of the page, please contact me at amy@diaryofaquilter.com and I will resend you a new pattern. SO sorry for the trouble!
