Last weekend I got to participate in the first Garden of Quilts 2019 event, here in Utah. It was fantastic and I wanted to share a glimpse of the quilt show magic with all of you.
Garden of Quilts 2019 was hosted by Riley Blake Designs and Thanksgiving Point at the Ashton Gardens here in Lehi, Utah.
The Ashton Gardens venue is a favorite spot of mine - the beautiful gardens are massive, with a variety of features and landscapes.
And then to see all of those gardens covered with 100's of quilts was breathtaking!
Most of the quilts were recent makes, but there were also some beautiful antique quilts on display.
It was so fun to see this version of the Holiday Patchwork Forest quilt on display! This one was made by Angie Reece.
I have to admit, other than that, I did a really poor job of documenting the details of the quilts on display, so forgive me for not being able to answer those questions about who made them and what pattern they used. Mainly I was just taking in the big picture. Which was massive.
To help capture some of the feeling of this event, I made a little video. (All by myself, even! Look at me learning new tech skills! It's not the finest piece of videography, but I'm pretty proud.)
The coolest part to me was watching all of those quilts gently wave in the breeze. It was beautiful, and only really able to capture with video.
The other coolest part was all of the PEOPLE! Oh my goodness, quilters from all of the country - and even other parts of the globe! So many wonderful, sweet quilters. (With the wonderful Andy of A Bright Corner.)
Thank you so much to all who came and said hello, or took my class, or attended my trunk show. It was so delightful to be with you!
There was so much inspiration to be found - not just in the gorgeous quilts (and we were so lucky with the weather!) but also the new friendships, connections, and camaraderie among such lovely people.
As of right now, it sounds like this event will be held again next fall! I promise to share all of the details as soon as they're announced!
Thanks again to Riley Blake, Thanksgiving Point and all of the many volunteers who made this event possible. It was truly inspiring.
