If you’ve been following my makes this year, you’ll notice that I’m on a baby quilt trend. Riley Blake released two recent collections that I just loved – Modern Farmhouse by Simple Simon & Co and Pemberley by Rachel of Citrus and Mint. I was itching to play with both, and decided my Lattice Baby Quilt would be the perfect, quick pattern to make a simple, precuts-friendly baby quilt that would show-off these collections fabulously!
This quilt is made with precut squares from the Modern Farmhouse collection from Simple Simon from Riley Blake Designs.
I love the combination of the large scale buffalo checks, florals, and text prints of this collection.
The second quilt variation is made using Rachel of Citrus and Mint’s Pemberley collection for Riley Blake. This is the second quilt I’ve made with this collection, so clearly it’s a favorite. The darling illustrated prints are inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride and Prejudice and the details are adorable.
The pattern for both quilts is my Baby Lattice Quilt tutorial. I haven’t made this one for a little while – now I’ve made two in the past few weeks. These quilts are perfect for precut 5″ stackers (charm squares). You need 50 squares for the quilt, so you can easily get a nice variety of prints by using a 42-piece charm collection and adding a few other squares cut from yardage or fat quarters.
Adorable Pemberley prints on Etsy.
I’ve finally restocked I-spy kits as well for the first time in over a year. Here’s what I’ve made with these I-spy kits in the past.
These squares are 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and come in a set of 65 squares (plus pattern for making a baby quit) or 100+ squares. Both sets have no repeats.
Last shop update: I have a handful of my Everyday Favorites Aurifil thread collections in stock and I’ve marked them down to $99 (regular price $140) to ship in time for Mother’s Day.
You can find other quilty and sewing gift ideas for Mother’s Day here. 🙂
Finally, in a rare move, I’ve listed both of these quilts for sale as well. I rarely sell my quilts and these two are available for purchase as well as the original Dainty Darling version. Both are machine quilted and hand-bound, finishing at 41″ x 49″. I’ll be adding a few more baby quilts for sale as well.
Last Saturday night my husband I and went for a drive to one of my favorite overlooks in the foothills. Near the orchard where I took these pictures last year, but this year we missed the blossoms at their peak. Darn. Oh well, still lovely vistas to enjoy and these sweet purple wildflowers still sparked some joy.
It was a perfect way to kill two birds with one stone – or, in other words, take pictures of two quilts and get in a nice walk with a great view at the end of another weird day/week. I think it was our first date-night outside the house in weeks and man it felt good to get out! (And he was a good sport to include “taking pictures of quilts” as part of this rare venture out. 😉 )
Hurrah for warm weather, wild flowers, and a husband who puts up with my quilt photo shoots. 😉
