It’s always interesting to look back at the end of a year and see what projects had the biggest impact or interest. I can safely say at the beginning of the year I never would have predicted a post about “how to make face masks” would be the most popular. BUT, here we are! Here is a list of the most popular quilt and sewing tutorials from 2020 on Diary of a Quilter.
It was fun to look back at what other projects or tutorials seemed to resonate most. In addition to facemask tutorials, baby quilts and learning how to quilt or make classic traditional quilt blocks are always a hit.
This is still by far my favorite method for making facemasks. They're the most comfortable to wear and talk with - I never find myself needing to readjust this one. They're also very simple to resize to fit any face.
Another one of the most popular block tutorials in the Riley Blake quilt block challenge was this Economy Block - with instructions for 3 different sizes of blocks. This post also has a link to all 12 classic block tutorials.
Did you know that entry level sewing machines sold out throughout the country last Spring? That means there were LOTS of people wanting to learn what else they could make once they were done sewing face masks.

Here is one more bonus for the list. It's not a tutorial, but it felt so relevant this year. It's crazy to look back at when I posted this in March, not really knowing what the future months would hold. Well, Grace Coolidge's quote held true: Sewing absolutely provided a stabilizer in times of perplexity and distress.
