Chambray Blues quilt + Season to Taste pattern book

Jessica Dayon has released a beautiful brand new pattern book called Seasons to Taste – Quilts to Warm Your Home All Year Long. She recently sent me a copy and invited me to be a part of the book tour. I choose to take one of her patterns and created this navy and chambray blues quilt.

Chambray Blues Quilt

Chambray Blues classic quilt design made by Amy Smart using Tradition pattern by Jessica Dayon

This pattern is called Tradition in Jessica’s book.

Here’s a closer look at these beautiful woven fabrics that I first mentioned hereRiley Blake Blue Stitch Chambrays. I combined them with some Riley Blake basics including Confetti Cotton in Navy and this Blossom print in gray on white.

I love how the textures contrast with the regular cotton fabrics – it’s easier to see the texture in this close up.

I had a great time playing with these shades of blues in Jessica’s design. I used the center section from the Tradition pattern to make a smaller size wall hanging. Or it could be a stunning, classic baby quilt.

I love the original Tradition quilt in the book – the colors, the tree and star border. SUCH a great quilt. And isn’t it amazing how a change of fabric gives a quilt a whole new look!

The Season to Taste quilt book has 12 different quilt designs – 3 for each season. But each design is so classic and versatile, by changing up colors and fabrics you could easily make a dozen quilts that could be used year round. Here are a few of the quilts in the book:

This large star quilt is called Abloom. And Jessica is hosting a quilt along for this quilt this month!

This cheery yellow and white quilt is called Sun-Kissed – a classic flying geese pattern that could be made in a scrappy variety of prints as well.

This patriotic red, white, and blue quilt is called Steadfast. I love it in the scrappy shirtings and prints.

And here’s another Winter blues quilt – this classic Dresden design is called Icicles but would also be bright and cheery in summery colors and prints.

These are all beautiful. :). Do you do the quilting yourself or send them to a long-armer? How do you decide which design to use?

Thank you, Norma! I send almost all of my quilts to a long arm quilter. I’ve decided that’s a part of the process I don’t enjoy (and I’m not particularly great at 😉 ) so I’m happy to let someone else do that part.

Thank you! I bought it on clearance a few years ago from Magnolia Home. I think they have them back in stock. I do love it!
