It’s week #4 of the 2021 Riley Blake Quilt Block Challenge and here is this week’s block: It’s called Stella and designed by Sandy Gervais.
I will admit – I was a little intimidated when I first saw this block, but it came together really well! I love the depth and dimension that this block has. You can find the free printable PDF for this pattern here.
I love the way different fabrics, colors, textures can change the entire look of the block. Below is the same block made entirely in Riley Blake Confetti Cottons.
If you’re new here, the way this Block Challenge works is: Each month Riley Blake will release 3 new 10″ x 10″ free quilt block patterns designed by different Riley Blake Designers. (One new block each the first 3 weeks of the month. The 4th week is a break to catch up on any sewing.)
At the end of June they will release the final layout and assembly instructions.
There is a published list of fabric requirements per block + finishing here.

Fabric Requirements and What I’m Using
For solids I’m using Riley Blake Confetti Cottons in Cloud, Songbird, Tearose, Redwood, and Oxford Blue.
The prints I’m using are from my Notting Hill fabric collection. I’m using the whites, blues, and reds from that line.
I’ve had a few questions about the fabric choices that I’m using and as well as yardage requirements. I’ve done my best to answer those questions here.
In other fun news:
Tomorrow (Friday, March 5) I’ll be doing a Facebook Live mini trunk show sharing some of my latest quilts at My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe here in Utah. You can tune in on their Facebook Page Live. The video will also be saved on their FB page if you want to watch later. 🙂

I want to make your chambray blues quilt for my grandson in the same fabrics by Riley Blake. Would it be possible to get the fabric requirements for the quilt on your blog? Thanks Reba Williams

Boy, I had a hard time with those triangles…my points did not come out as nicely as yours!

I just treated myself to a FQ bundle of Notting Hill…..hmmm, guess I could use them to make these adorable blocks!
By the way, do you have a tutorial for your bunting panels? Got some of those as well 😉
