Meet the Briarcreek Blooms Quilt Pattern

Modified: Oct 13, 2025 · Published: Aug 29, 2025 by Amy · This post may contain affiliate links · 7 Comments

I'm excited to introduce my latest new quilt pattern, Briarcreek Blooms! This rose wreath design is a little bit outside the box for me. I wanted to design a sweet, feminine pattern to go with my Mary Catherine fabric collection that will be arriving in stores in September. This collection is a bit of a love letter to mid-century girlhood and I wanted to design a quilt that would capture that heirloom, girl-y vibe. The result is this prim but playful rosebud wreath surrounded by bows and picot points for a soft ode to girlhood.

Briarcreek Blooms throw hanging on a wall; light background with floral blocks and tidy pieced frames.

This quilt can be made in a scrappy color palette. I made this one with all of the colored and low-volume prints from the Mary Catherine collection. Or it can be made with a limited palette or solids as you'll see below.

Briarcreek Blooms quilt spread on a bed; patchwork borders frame the center wreath motif.

The quilt is pieced with traditional-piecing methods including log cabin blocks, flying geese and sew-and-flip corners. The design looks more complex than it really is, making this quilt really do-able for any confident beginner!

Three Size Options for Briarcreek Blooms Quilts

I love the variety of patchwork borders in this medallion-style quilt. As a result of those different borders, this quilt has three different size options. You can choose the size based on how many borders you want to add!

The 40" x 40" baby size quilt consists of just the rosebud wreath, framed by the background fabric. It's perfect for a sweet baby gift.

Here's a look at the 56" x 56" Lap size version, framed by the blue ribbon and bows.

Baby-size Briarcreek Blooms laid flat; simple wreath center and narrow borders on a low-volume white.

This version is made with Riley Blake Confetti Cottons in the following colors:

    • Cloud (White Background)
    • Pinks: Champagne Pink, Mellow Rose, Marsala
    • "Red": Canyon Rose
    • Greens: Sage, Pistachio, Lodge Pine
    • Blues: Wedgwood, and Stargazer
Lap-size Briarcreek Blooms laid flat; simple rosebud wreath center and pieced bow borders in Confetti Cotton solids.

The quilting on both of these quilt was done by Melissa Kelley of Sew Shabby Quilting. I choose the Macintosh Rose pantograph. I love the way the big blooms echo the rosebud blocks and give texture to the quilt.

The Large Throw is 74" x 74" and includes a scrappy, Picot Points (or Flying Geese) border - perfect for including lots of prints from a collection. I love how the muted storybook colors of the Mary Catherine collection play cheerfully with this quilt.

The Happy Little Stitch Shop is offering a quilt kit for the 74" x 74" Mary Catherine version of this quilt. It will ship in September after the fabric arrives in stores.

      Hi,
You mention affiliated links in your intro.Could you please explain what this for me? I really don't want my details going places I know nothing about; I'm concerned about safety primarily. My laptop has died & all I have is my son's phone @ moment. I love your quilt & I am getting back into quilt after a broken back. I'd very much like to know more about what you have available but I can't cope with lots of strangers I don't want to know getting in touch. Please reassure me. Thank you

Hi Bea! Good news, affiliate links don't collect your personal data. I often use affiliate links when I link to products for sale in certain shops like Amazon or Fat Quarter Shop. When a person buys a product that I shared, I get a small commission payment from the retailer at no additional cost to the consumer. It's a way that I generate income to provide ongoing free content on my website. 🙂
