Are you familiar with Connecting Threads? They are an online retail shop specializing in a wide variety of sewing and quilting related items including notions, thread, batting, and patterns. They carry a wide variety of fabrics both unique to them and from other manufacturers, but their specialty is producing their own in-house fabric collections which can then be marketed directly to the public at a much lower price point.

Among their most popular quilting basics are their  Quilter’s Candy basics – fabrics that are available in a wide variety of colors and options such as solids, prints and flannels  some starting as low as $3.56 a yard, including these 15 shades of Chambray prints. Also always in stock is a large variety of 104″ Wide Back options.

A recent addition for Connecting Threads is this new batik collection called Batik Paradise. Once again, because the fabrics are produced in-house (rather than buying from a fabric wholesaler and selling at retail) the price point is great for quality batik prints.

Other fabric collection in stock include Allison Harris’s Hazel, various Cotton+Steel prints (many of which are marked down), and whimsical Michael Miller prints. Also, special collections unique to Connecting Threads by designers such as Cheryl Arkison and Amanda Jean Nyberg. CT also carries a wide variety of collections in pre-cut bundles, if you’re looking for a little bit of a bunch of coordinated fabrics.

And finally, Connecting Threads is a great place to supply your favorite notions – or to try out something new you’ve had an eye on! The best part – they’re frequently on rotating sales. Right now all pins and needles are marked down 40% – a great time to stock up! (I love those crystal glass-head pins. They’re like butter!)

So if you’re looking to stock up on some quilting basics and staples, be sure to check Connecting Threads for lots of options.  The Connecting Threads website also includes lots of free stuff like tutorials, patterns, and other downloads. You can follow them on Facebook or request their mailed catalog to keep up with all the latest releases and news.

I shop there regularly. At the holidays I was able to find a flannel design wall package for $1.00. That’s right. One buck! Bought some for gifts and felt pretty blessed myself.

Yes very familiar with Connecting Threads (CT). Their fabrics are great, their prices are fantastic, their thread comes in some awesome colors. I really haven’t seen CT as a blog sponsor before so this is good news.

I’ve heard of them, but always wondered about the quality of that bargain priced fabric. Sounds like I should take the plunge and try them out. Thanks for bringing this into better focus for me.

      Amy,
Do you know what the pattern is that shows Allison Harris’ Hazel fabric? I would love to use that pattern in a project I have in mind!

      Thanks

I’m afraid I don’t – you’d have to contact Connecting Threads to ask them.

I have been shopping at CT for several years now. I buy all of my solids, quilting thread and sewing thread, and batting from them. Their solids have a high quality. Their quilting thread Essential Pro seems to be the best for my long arm and I have tried most of the top brands.

I am a dedicated Connecting Threads shopper. Good quality fabric. Great service. I purchase a lot of my stash fabrics when on sale or clearance. They change colors and designs often so there is always something new and fresh. The old goes on clearance. Connecting Threads makes it easy to stretch the quilting budget.
