I was asked a few months ago if I would like to play with the new Lancelot collection by Citrus and Mint Designs for Riley Blake Designs. I think the collection is darling, so I jumped at the chance to create with it!
The colors in this collection are great - a nice twist on traditional "boy" colors/fabrics. There are great blenders that I know I will incorporate to lots of scrappy quilts because I really love those warm, 'sour' tones. In addition, the collection features fun, detailed prints with a knight motif - suits of armor, sheilds, and...
... a darling coat of arms featuring two handsome lions.
Because I wanted to feature those playful designs, I wanted a quilt with big panels that would really show them off. So I made the crib-size (41 ½" x 49") quilt from my Craftsman Pattern. (Available in PDF or hard-copy options.)
I think that this quilt turned out so great! And I'd forgotten how quickly this pattern comes together. It's easy enough to sew a crib-size version together in one afternoon!
I used the tone-on-tone blue for the binding, but cut the stripe on the bias. (I'm a sucker for a good bias stripe. Plus the bias-cut binding makes it just a little more sturdy. Bias binding tutorial here.)
Big thanks to Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting for doing the quilting on this one. I had her use the Yodel pattern. It's one of my favorites - particularly for quilts that lean masculine. It's a subtle geometric pattern, but gives some nice texture to the whole quilt.
If you're looking for a fun alternative for an adorable juvenile boy quilt, the Lancelot collection is perfect! To see another use of this collection, Amanda of Jedi Craft Girl made a really cute set of book bags featuring the Lancelot fabric and its companion collection, Guenivere.
Lancelot and Guinivere fabrics can be found at Simply Love Fabrics, and Cute Little Fabric Shop.

It's perfect for a boy! Sometimes it is so hard to find a good fabric, pattern and quilting design for a boy. Your Craftsman pattern is going on my "to get" list.

What is the finished size of your crib quilt?
Amy
Hah! We're on the same wavelength - I literally just updated the post with the size.
It's 41 1/2" x 49". But you could easily add a border if you need it bigger.

I just finished up a Craftsman baby quilt plus another baby quilt using Gingham Girls. I'll have to send you a pic once I take some. 🙂 The Craftsman pattern is so great for large prints you want to show off with the added bonus that they're a pretty quick finish.

Oh that's so fun! I'd love to see them. I do love the Craftsman quilt for showing-off fun fabric. It's my best-seller pattern! Isn't that crazy?

How do I enlarge the throw size for a Twin size?
Amy
You could try adding larger borders? I haven't done it myself, so let me know what works!
