An exciting update. As previously mentioned the past few months I’ve been sewing up a storm behind the scenes in preparation to film a class for Craftsy, a website with loads of great crafting video classes. I went to Denver a few weeks ago for filming and my class is releasing next week!! So today I thought I’d introduce the class a little, share a few pictures from ‘behind the scenes’, and give away a free class and fabric! How’s that for a great way to start the week?
This class is all about working with Pre-cuts (those squares or strips of fabric that come pre-cut from the fabric manufacturer in a collection of coordinating prints). I’ll be teaching seven different quilts made from pre-cuts, including four brand new patterns exclusive to this class! Not to mention other tips and tricks for sewing and working with pre-cuts.
I’m a huge fan of pre-cuts because you have a great selection of coordinating fabrics in a variety of different prints, colors, and scales that already work well together. Having the squares or strips already cut saves time as well as money in that you get a big variety of fabrics without having to buy a lot of yardage.
It was kind of a crazy experience to be on the set with cameras, microphones, etc., filming this class. VH1 will probably do a “behind the Craftsy” expose one day, spilling all of the juicy details. 😉 Actually, it was somewhat tedious stuff doing my best to act normal and not too nervous. (Let’s just say, the extra layers of deodorant didn’t always do their job.) But I did get to have my hair and make-up done for me everyday. When I showed my husband this picture he thought I looked like a news anchor. I think I look more like a muppet…
To celebrate the upcoming class launch, Craftsy is giving away a free class to one of you! To enter to win, click here. Craftsy will pick a winner and I’ll announce it the day the class goes live!
In addition to the free class, I’m giving away a bundle of pre-cuts thanks to Moda Fabrics to one lucky winner! This bundle includes a 5″ x 5″ Charm pack and a Jelly Roll (2 1/2″ strips) from April Rosenthal’s brand new SummerFest collection as well as a Jr. Layer Cake – 15 precut 10″ x 10″ solid white squares. I talk in my class about the handy benefits of using solids pre-cut squares and strips – they’re so useful!
To enter to win the fabric bundle, leave a quick comment. (You may have noticed my website has been updated. To leave a comment, click on the little speech bubble with a number at the top of the post.) I’ll pick a winner the day of the class launch as well!
So there you go. Fun times ahead! I put a lot of sweat and tears (fortunately not too much blood) into this class and hope that it will be a fun and helpful resource. I have to admit, I’m not looking forward to seeing/hearing myself on tape, but I AM looking forward to sharing all of the new quilts and patterns (and hopefully some helpful tips along the way) with all of you!
THE CLASS IS NOW LIVE! You can see more and sign up here.

I am looking forward to your class. I am a Craftsy junkie, but my favorite classes are the project based quilting classes. Love the Summerfest fabric line, can’t wait to see what others make with it.
