Fresh Fat Quarter Quilts

Another recent finish - and it's another baby quilt! Clearly I've been on a baby quilt kick so far this year. This quilt was made using a pattern from Andy Knowlton's book Fresh Fat Quarter Quilts. If you've got stacks of unused Fat Quarters in need of a pattern, this book is full of great ways to use them!

There are multiple patterns in this book that I would love to try. The first one I went with was Lucky Star. I love the large scale star motifs.

The shades of blue and gray made for a perfect baby boy quilt. The back is a super soft woven gray and white gingham - classic if you ask me. 🙂 

I was so excited to make this quilt as a baby gift for a special baby in our extended family. I'm way overdue on finishing and gifting this one - partly because this is the quilt I was working on last fall when I had my rotary cutter incident. (doh! and yikes!)

I'm glad to have recovered and loved finishing this quilt. The super cool quilting is by Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting. I love how the large scale Simple Cables design complement the large scale stars and keep the quilt soft and drapey at the same time.

There are so many great patterns in this book all designed for using fat quarters. It's full of ideas to help you bust through that fat quarter stash! 

One of the cool features is that their organized by the number of fat quarters needed to make each quilt. (Quilts also require yardage for backgrounds, borders, binding, etc.)

And this one is called Sunny Day. Andy has a way with designing and writing patterns that are super easy to follow and make (and finish) with a fresh twist on classic styles.
