Fun things in Fabricland

A few fun things. Fun thing #1: A couple of weeks ago I shared the bindings I did on a bundle of quilts for Vanessa Christenson’s booth at Market. (I also helped cut out two of the quilts but the real heroics goes to my friend Pink for doing the piecing and quilting.)
I snapped a couple of quick pics before they went home to Vanessa. You can find the patterns for her quilts here, including these called To The Point. The fabric comes from an ombre block panel that will be part of Vanessa’s upcoming collection Color Me Happy.
Fun thing #2: Are you looking for a fun, new quilty-project? Check out the sew-along to go with Lori Holt’s Quilty Fun book tour and sew-along, hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop.

I got a sneak peak of Lori’s new book and it is full of so much inspiration, not to mention multiple patterns that can be used with her block designs. (Also, I love that quote about “being the boss of your own quilt” because I heartily agree.)

These apples are on my “to-do” list for next fall.
Lori’s is a gifted designer and teacher – her instructions are so well done. The Fat Quarter Shop quilt-along will create a unique sampler quilt, using the blocks from the book. Each week there will be a new portion using the one of the blocks from the book.

Fun thing #3: I was offered the chance to sample the new subscription called Quilty Box
(who could say no to that?) and I must say, I was even more impressed than I anticipated. The contents of the October box included a bundle of Art Gallery’s Minimalista fabric, Aurifil thread, Jaybird Quilt’s new Sidekick ruler and pattern, needles and a fun surprise. Each month there is a different theme and contents. They’re just getting started, but so far, so good. You can find out more at Quilty Box.

Fun thing #4: I am one of the guest “Stashers” playing along with the Stash Match game at Ali’s blog this week. If you can guess which Stash goes with which quilter, you could win an amazing fat eighth Honeycrisp bundle from Westwood Acres.  Click here to play along.
