More projects with Gretel + a Magazine Cover!

Published: Jan 15, 2019 by Amy Smart · This post may contain affiliate links · 14 Comments

I have another fun Gretel quilt to share this week! I've had to keep this one underwraps for a bit and I'm so excited to finally get to share it.

This quilt is called Bursting with Joy. The quilt and the pattern are featured in the Spring 2019 issue of Quilts & More magazine, which is hitting newsstands and mailboxes now! This quilt finishes at 39 ½" x 39 ½".

I used the Red Swiss Dot on cream as the background for the Gretel prints. You can find Gretel in shops now or online at Lou Lou's Fabric Shop, Lady Belle Fabrics, the Fat Quarter Shop, and Simply Love Fabrics.

The gorgeous custom quilting on this one was done by Melissa Kelly of Sew Shabby Quilting.

And it was extra fun to find out that this quilt is the cover quilt for this issue! So cool!! Now I need to find an issue out in the wild and admire it from a distance too. Maybe I'll autograph a few copies for unsuspecting buyers... lol. (I can just imagine some WalMart employee reprimanding me for drawing in the magazines...)

Here are a few other fun projects made with Gretel. Isn't this bag adorable? Look at that perfect zipper! This bag was created by Karen of Cream Craft Goods. There isn't a pattern for it, but I do love seeing those prints in bag form - especially that main print. If you're looking for a fun bag pattern for Gretel, check out this list on my Handmade Bags pinboard.

Heidi Staples from FabricMutt made this adorable Gretel bunting. I'm smitten!

Jen Van Orman from Heritage Threads shared this quilt on her Instagram account. She used the Even-Steven pattern by Erika Jackman of Kitchen Table Quilts. I love the darker woven she used for her background fabric.

Another simple beauty is this pinwheel quilt by Lindsey Weight, also shared on her Instagram account.

I love seeing what people create! If you've made something, I'd love to hear about it. You can tag it on social media with the #gretalfabric hashtag or email me at [email protected]! I'm working on a few little valentines projects that I'll be sharing this week!
