I'm so excited! My 2025 fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs, Mary Catherine, is arriving in stores! I want to share some inspiration and quilts made with this sweet fabric range, filled with pastels, low volume prints and paired with some deeper hues of blue, muted red, and green. If you're looking for the Mary Catherine collection, check first with your local fabric shop. If it's not available there, I've created a list of online shops that are stocking it which you can find at the end of the post!

As with all of my past fabric collections, the inspiration for this collection is also personal. The inspiration for Mary Catherine is drawn from the 1950s childhoods of my mom and mother‑in‑law (both born late '40s, on opposite coasts), and I wanted the line to feel mid-century childhood nostalgic and softly vintage, like storybook illustrations from that era (especially Eloise Wilkin).

You can read more details about the inspiration behind the collection as see more detailed close-ups of all of the prints in this Introduction to Mary Catherine post.

You'll find lots of retro florals, bows (designed by my sister Laura Miller), low‑volume prints for backgrounds, and a micro‑gingham in faded red, robin's egg blue, and sage green. You can see more close-ups of the prints in the Mary Catherine collection here.

I like to include lots of low-volume prints in my collections to give you a variety of background options to choose from.

The flower prints on the main floral (bottom print) are inspired by the curtains from my Mother-in-Law's 1950's bedroom in Bath, Maine. This print is also available in a 108" Wide-back option!

There are also plenty of blenders to balance things, plus a wide backing fabric and a "cheater print" that features a mini lone‑star block - for folks like me who love the look but sometimes feel intimidated by piecing perfect stars.

Here's a look at a bag I made with the cheater print. I quilted the star quilt print with a layer of soft and stable + backing fabric to create the look of a bag made of a finished quilt. (And check out those perfect points. 😉) I used the Altoona tote bag pattern, slightly modified the shape to show off the Lone Star prints.

Quilts Featuring Mary Catherine Fabrics

Here's a look at some of the quilts featuring the Mary Catherine collection.
The new pattern designed specifically for this collection is the Briarcreek Blooms pattern. This medallion quilt with wreath of log-cabin roses can be made in three sizes. The outer borders include a sweet bow motif and charming picot points (flying geese).

You can find a kit for the Briarcreek Blooms quilt here and here (including a baby version.)

Here are a few other favorite quilt patterns made using Mary Catherine including:
Prep School Picnic - a perfect quilt for using 10" precuts (aka Layer Cakes) and strip-piecing techniques make this quilt come together quick! Kit available here.

Another favorite pre-cuts friendly quilt pattern is Fraulein. This one works great for 2 ½" strips (aka Jelly Rolls or Rolie Polies) OR 10" squares (Layer Cakers/10" stackers). Strip-pieceing also makes this pattern fast and efficient.

You can find a Kit for this Fraulein quilt here.
My Regent Street Union Jack quilt pattern is one of my all-time favorites to make. So of course I had to recreate this one in this sweet, pastel color palette! This pattern is more of an intermediate pattern, but it's all traditionally pieced (no Foundation Paper Piecing.)

This pattern is also Fat Quarter friendly - perfect for using up a Fat Quarter Bundle. You can also find a Kit for the Regent Street Quilt featuring Mary Catherine here and here.

Love your new fabric and the colors…I’m so color driven when I sew or make a quilt. I’m trying to get away from all the blues which I favor.
But these are absolutely lovely!❤️
Sharon
I love your new line, just beautiful! The tote bag is perfect! I want to make one just like it! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Claudia
I have to have some of this. Planning the quilt now; and cannot wait to see the fabric in real life!
Barbara
Amy, these are gorgeous! Can't wait to get my hands on your newest line. I don't know how you find the time to do the amazing things you do.
Amy
Thank you Barbara. That is so kind. I can assure you that there are many balls on the 'to-do' list that are getting dropped far to frequently. 😅😂

Amy:
I am so in love. I absolutely adore Eloise Wilken's illustrations. Once again, you have hit it out of the Ballpark and Straight into my Happy Place. I was also beyond excited to get the notification email from Happy Little Stitch Shop this morning letting me know the Briar Creek Blooms kit was back in stock. I immediately ordered it.
Thank you for always being you and letting "you" 100% infuse your inspirations and designs.
Blessings,
Valerie
Amy
Aww, thank you so much for your kind words. And so glad to hear Happy Little Stitch Shop has restocked the kit! 🙂

I love this fabric range, actually I have loved all your ranges! I live in Australia and I don’t seem to be able to find a stockist here? If there is stockist here I’d love to know. Sadly the cost of postage from the USA makes buying it prohibitive.
Congratulations on another beautiful range Amy 🩷
Amy
Aww, thank you. Darn - I'm sorry they haven't been making their way down under. 😔
