If you've been following my makes this year, you'll notice that I'm on a baby quilt trend. Riley Blake released two recent collections that I just loved - Modern Farmhouse by Simple Simon & Co and Pemberley by Rachel of Citrus and Mint. I was itching to play with both, and decided my Lattice Baby Quilt would be the perfect, quick pattern to make a simple, precuts-friendly baby quilt that would show-off these collections fabulously!
This quilt is made with precut squares from the Modern Farmhouse collection from Simple Simon from Riley Blake Designs. I have a limited number of kits available to make this quilt in my shop.
I love the combination of the large scale buffalo checks, florals, and text prints of this collection.
The kits include everything to make this quilt top (pre-cut squares, white yardage and pre-cut binding of black with white polka dots). Backing yardage is not included in the kits - but you can find coordinating yardage below.
You can find the Modern Farmhouse collection available from Simply Love Fabrics, Sojo Fabric, and Fat Quarter Shop .
The second quilt variation is made using Rachel of Citrus and Mint's Pemberley collection for Riley Blake. This is the second quilt I've made with this collection, so clearly it's a favorite. The darling illustrated prints are inspired by Jane Austen's classic novel, Pride and Prejudice and the details are adorable.
The pattern for both quilts is my Baby Lattice Quilt tutorial. I haven't made this one for a little while - now I've made two in the past few weeks. These quilts are perfect for precut 5" stackers (charm squares). You need 50 squares for the quilt, so you can easily get a nice variety of prints by using a 42-piece charm collection and adding a few other squares cut from yardage or fat quarters.
Adorable Pemberley prints on Etsy.
I've finally restocked I-spy kits as well for the first time in over a year. Here's what I've made with these I-spy kits in the past.
These squares are 3 ½" x 3 ½" and come in a set of 65 squares (plus pattern for making a baby quit) or 100+ squares. Both sets have no repeats.
You can find I-Spy kits here.
Last shop update: I have a handful of my Everyday Favorites Aurifil thread collections in stock and I've marked them down to $99 (regular price $140) to ship in time for Mother's Day.
You can find other quilty and sewing gift ideas for Mother's Day here. 🙂
Finally, in a rare move, I've listed both of these quilts for sale as well. I rarely sell my quilts and these two are available for purchase as well as the original Dainty Darling version. Both are machine quilted and hand-bound, finishing at 41" x 49". I'll be adding a few more baby quilts for sale as well.

Last Saturday night my husband I and went for a drive to one of my favorite overlooks in the foothills. Near the orchard where I took these pictures last year, but this year we missed the blossoms at their peak. Darn. Oh well, still lovely vistas to enjoy and these sweet purple wildflowers still sparked some joy.
It was a perfect way to kill two birds with one stone - or, in other words, take pictures of two quilts and get in a nice walk with a great view at the end of another weird day/week. I think it was our first date-night outside the house in weeks and man it felt good to get out! (And he was a good sport to include "taking pictures of quilts" as part of this rare venture out. 😉 )
Hurrah for warm weather, wild flowers, and a husband who puts up with my quilt photo shoots. 😉

So much cuteness, Amy! Just ordered one of your kits, but didn't see a way to leave a note on the order, so guess I'll thank you here, instead. You've 'enabled' me to stop dithering over way too many adorable choices, and follow a simple path that will allow me to gift a beautiful (fingers crossed!) quilt to a sweet baby girl who's expected this September. This will be my second baby quilt ever. 🙂 So excited!
Amy
Oh good! I'm so glad! (That fabric is so darn cute. It really does all the work!)

Thanks for the reminder about your AWESOME tutorial and for offering those time-saving kits!

I am so happy to order your newest I Spy squares. I was thinking yesterday that they made the cutest quilt I've ever done. The little one I gave it to is now three years old and his mom still sends me pictures with him and his quilt.

Amy, What a nice surprise to see that you’re again offering I Spy fabric squares and kits. I look forward to seeing what you’ve curated this time and adding to my growing collection of I Spy fabrics!
Amy
Yay! I'm so glad!

Two questions -
1. Do you use the lattice quilt for the I Spy? or how are you putting them together?
2. Have you ever done a lattice baby quilt with something other than a white background? I have admired this quilt for over a year and want to attempt it, but am somewhat afraid of giving a baby quilt with so much white to be spit up on. (obviously my babies spit up a lot!) But wondered about another color palette, but I don't have enough quilting experience to envision it.
I look forward to your emails! Love looking at your projects even if I don't have much time to sew myself!
Amy
Both really good questions.
1. Here is more detail on the I-spy quilts I've made before with these squares: https://www.diaryofaquilter.com/2017/08/i-spy-charm-squares.html
2. Really good question about the white fabric on the Lattice Quilt. I think you could use a gray or a muslin or something a little more neutral. I recently made a baby quilt with navy blue as the background color and love how it turned out! https://www.diaryofaquilter.com/2020/04/fresh-fat-quarter-quilts.html

Love the look of the navy - especially for a little boy! I also had wondered about a grey........... thanks so much for the response!! Love opening up my email and having your latest post in there! 🙂 I sew in absentee thru you a lot! LOL

Grandstand quilt by Andy Knowlton A Bright Corner
Grandstand Quilt pattern by Andy Knowlton featuring Modern Farmhouse Fabric from Riley Blake ( can't get the picture to copy and paste) using the Modern Farmhouse fabric. Do you still have the pattern that I could buy from you?? I'm having a heck of a time finding it.

Hi Kim!
