Ah, it's almost here. The air is changing and I'm starting to crave all of the pumpkin flavored things! Fall (aka Autumn) is hands down my favorite season of the year. I have a list of some of my favorite Fall projects and patterns here, but wanted to also share some recently released Fall-inspired fabric and patterns in 2024.
New Autumn Fabric + Patterns from Lori Holt
In the past two years Lori Holt has released a couple of really fun Fall sampler-inspired quilts in her signature style.
These patterns include The Quilted Witch and, new this year, the Quilted Scarecrow. I saw the original Quilted Witch quilt in person last year at the Garden of Quilts event.
The Quilted Witch pattern is available in both PDF and Printed patterns from your local quilt shop or online from the Fat Quarter Shop, as well as Missouri Star and Etsy shops.
Lori's new Fall Sampler-style pattern this year is The Quilted Scarecrow. I like this one because it fits more of a general fall-theme, rather than Halloween specific, if you prefer something like that.
The Quilted Scarecrow pattern is also available as a PDF or Printed pattern (and an option for a kit) from the Fat Quarter Shop.
Another great quilt with a fall vibe from Lori Holt is Crows in the Corn, a folk-art-inspired quilt with a log cabin feel. This pattern is also available in PDF or Printed format.
This year Lori Holt also released a new Autumn fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs.
There are 52 prints in this collection including the 42 vibrant colors in the 10" stacker as well as 10 low-volume shirtings-inspired prints. And, as always, they coordinate beautifully with all of Lori's pas collections.
The Autumn 10" stacker is available from Missouri Star Quilt Company.
Fabric Stash Hot Tip:
Also 10" Stackers (aka Layer Cakes) are once of the BEST ways to build your scrap-stash. In this set of precuts you get a huge variety of coordinated prints with plenty fabric for cutting pieces for blocks at a fraction of the price of a FQ bundle. They're mini FQ bundles!
If you're looking for a way to add some new prints to your stash, a Layer Cake is a great way to go.
In fact I used pieces from Lori Holt's Autumn 10" Stacker to piece this fun block from the Hocus Pocus quilt in Susan Ache's newest book, Halloween Memories.
Halloween Memories Quilt Pattern Book
This book is a follow up to Susan's beautiful Summer Memories book that came out last year. The Halloween Memories book contains patterns for 6 gorgeous, traditionally-inspired quilts and 9 cross-stitch patterns.
The Halloween Memories book is another winner with beautifully photographed projects, excellent instructions, and a variety of pattern ideas. A great bang for your buck.
Author Susan Ache has also curated a custom Halloween-inspired FQ bundle that matches the aesthetic of the book if you are going for a similar look!

I hope these projects give you some fun inspiration for fall sewing because, ready or not, hear it comes!
Happy Fall, y'all!
Mickie
