    New Video Class!

Last Modified: May 27, 2017 by Amy · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 4 Comments

Hello! I have a fun new development to share. Riley Blake Designs has released a new series of online video classes at IMAGINE with Riley Blake – and one of them is mine!

I’m teaching an intermediate strip-piecing class with three brand new patterns. These patterns build off my love of strip-piecing and short-cuts to give you quilts that look much more complex than they really are. The class includes video step-by-step instructions for all three patterns + downloadable PDF supplemental materials.

The first quilt is an Hour Glass Pinwheel Quilt. This quilt is made using pre-cut 2 ½″ strips – perfect for saving time + a variety of fabrics for a scrappy fun look.

Here’s a variation using Gingham Girls. Kits for this version are available from the Fat Quarter Shop and Missouri Star Quilt Co in Gingham Girls fabrics! (The pattern is not included in the kit – the pattern is demonstrated in the video class and downloadable materials from the class itself.)

The second quilt is called Spinning Stars. This quilt takes the strip-piecing technique from the Pinwheel Quilt and adds on demonstrations of how to sew with Inset Seams to make a much more complex looking star block. I’ll walk you through all the steps and you’ll see how easy it is to put this block together.

Here’s another version of this block using a different color palette in the Torrington Place fabric line.

Finally, I’ll show you how to use the remnants from the Spinning Stars quilt to make this bonus baby quilt.

The fabrics in these two quilts are Patty Young’s Primavera collection. Kits for this project are also available from the Fat Quarter Shop and Missouri Star.

You can preview and order the class here.

And while you’re there, check out some of the other classes offered: I’ve always loved Melissa’s Retro Travel Bag, but felt too intimidated to try it on my own – I’m so excited to have her walk me through all of the steps!  Other classes include Paper-Piecing with the master, Sue Daley, and applique with Jill Finley as well as Free-Motion Quilting and sewing simple knit leggings.

New classes are coming soon to the Imagine channel with teachers like Lori Holt, Christopher Thompson (aka, the Tattooed Quilter), and Carmen Geddes.

These three patterns are exclusive to this class. Not only will you get the patterns for the three quilts listed, but I also hope you’ll build some great intermediate-piecing skills to use in lot of future projects!

I am not sure what you are saying. Is this a free class and is it available now or is it something that is coming?
