A few weeks ago Amanda Niederhauser of Jedi Craft Girl reached out to share her exciting news: she has a brand new book coming out this fall called Playful Precut Quilts- 15 Projects with Blocks to Mix and Match. This book is full of 15 quilt patterns perfect for Precuts.
I had a fun time last week playing with one of her patterns - the Colonial Flowers block - to make a warm, cheerful new fall table runner.
This beautifully photographed book has 15 fresh, new patterns that focus on using those super popular quilt-making assets: precuts - including Jelly Rolls and Layer Cakes. Precuts are the easiest way to get a variety of coordinating prints without having to buy a lot of yardage.
Amanda has a variety of quilt patterns that reflect her style - a contemporary take on traditional quilt block designs. This Newport Beach quilt is one of my favorites.
I also loved this quilt called You can see photos of more of the quilts in the Playful Precuts book here. You can also check out the Blog Tour to see other maker's versions of the quilt patterns from the book.
I especially love this Christmas quilt by Melly Sews
and this Rise and Shine solids quilt version by A Bright Corner.
As I mentioned, I used the Colonial Flowers pattern to make these scrappy, warm orange and gold colored blocks into a fall table runner for the desk in my front hall. This pattern is perfect for using 2 ½" precut strips (aka Jelly Rolls or Rolie Polies.)
I had fun digging through my orange and gold scraps and leftovers to make these blocks monochromatic but scrappy.
Amanda Neiderhauser's Playful Precuts book is available now, hopefully from your favorite quilt shop! It's also available on Amazon.
