Welcome to 2026 the Sewcialites Sew Along

Modified: Mar 14, 2026 · Published: Feb 14, 2026 by Amy Smart · This post may contain affiliate links · 16 Comments

Fat Quarter Shop's Sewcialites Sew Along is back for a third round, and it's all about simple, classic blocks, community, and an easy, satisfying rhythm of sewing something small each week that adds up to an amazing finished quilt. This is one of those sew-alongs that's easy to jump into (even if you're busy), because the patterns are released weekly and you can choose your block size: 3", 6", or 9" finished block, depending on your patience level and how teeny you like your piecing. 😉

I'm excited to share that I've been invited to participate and design a block for the upcoming 2026 Sewcialites Sew Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop.

What is the Sewcialites Sew Along?

Sewcialites 3 is a free block-of-the-week quilt along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. Each week, starting Friday, Feburary 20, a new designer block pattern is released, and you sew right along with the community. This year includes 25 weeks of free block patterns from 25 designers-so it's a great way to try new block styles while still keeping things approachable.

Here's a look at the other designers who are participating. I'm so honored to be included!

And here's a peek at what the finished quilt will look like. Super scrappy and fun.

And the coolest part is that you can make this quilt one of three sizes, depending on what size quilt blocks you want to make (options are 3", 6" or 9").

You can get a free printable PDF download all of the free information here.

Sewcialites 3 dates + weekly schedule

    Here's how it works:

    • A new FREE block pattern releases every Friday
    • Kimberly Jolly sews the block live on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube channel
    • Runs from Friday, February 20, 2026 to Friday, August 21, 2026
    • Includes a break for the 4th of July weekend

    I'm Sewing Along!

Here's a look at my block that will be relesed in a few weeks.

Free Quilt Block patterns as part of the Sewcialites 3 quilt along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop.

I'll be sewing along using Riley Blake Confetti Cottons and assorted low volume prints from Riley Blake Hush Hush collection.

    I'll be making the 6" blocks/quilt.

How to join the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along

If you want to participate, here's the easiest way to get set up:

    1. Everything you need to know is in this information packet.
    2. Subscribe to Fat Quarter Shop on YouTube for the weekly sew-along video.
    3. You can also join the Sewcialites Lounge Facebook Group to connect with other quilters who are sewing along.

Fat Quarter Shop also has a free Sewcialites 3 Information Packet and a precut guide PDF listed on their Sewcialites page-handy if you like having everything in one place before you start

Let me know if you're planning to sew along!

Will the directions for each block be available throughout the quilt along? I will be on vacation in March. Is the live sew along interactive? Thank you.

No, I don't think the live sew along is interactive. The videos should be available for a long time.

I’m an 83 year old lady who would like to learn simple patterns or designs. I have seven for approximately 70 years. However, I’ve never been into intricate patterns. I’d like to make simple patterns.

Judith, in the past the weekly blocks are rated from beginner to more experienced. Make the large block. Make multiples of a block if it sings to you. Make an entire quilt just using the block pattern with sashing. Use a block to make a tote bag or give new life to tired clothing. You are in charge of your creativity.
