It's here, it's here! My latest fabric collection, Albion is arriving in stores now (April 2024). I just had my own bolts and precuts arrive on my porch last week, so I thought I'd share a little bit more about the collection as well as lots of pictures to give you a look at how the colors and prints play together. This is my seventh fabric collection produced by Riley Blake Designs. Like all of my other collections, this one also has a sentimental back story.
I grew up in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountain range in northern Utah. Trips up the nearby canyons and hiking trails are one of my favorite activities and forms of therapy year round. One of my favorite places of all is the Albion (pronounced al·bee·uhn) Basin at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon.
I learned to ski there in winter when I was young, and it's majestic! But, in my opinion, the Albion Basin even more glorious in the summer when the whole valley, created by surrounding mountain peaks, is filled with pine trees, running creeks, lakes, and meadows of wildflowers.
It’s almost heaven and probably one of my favorite aspects of living in Utah.
The Albion collection was created to pay homage to the summer magic of the mountains where we love to camp and hike. I collaborated again with my sister, Laura Miller (@lauramiller.studio), to capture some of the wildflower mystique we both love in the Wasatch mountains.
There are multiple prints in the collection featuring hand-painted, gouache wildflowers and hand-lettered text prints in a chalky, muted color-palette.
I'm so excited about the botanical-flat-lay style florals. This is the first collection where I've had a text print and I love the hand-lettered text mixed with wildflower line drawings.
Here's a look at the prints sorted by color. In my last two collections, I've been adding more low-volume prints because they're a perennial favorite and so fun to create with them.
The Riley Blake Confetti Cotton solids that coordinate with this collection are:
- Cloud (off-white)
- Dream (light blue)
- Stargazer (dark blue)
- Lodge Pole (dark green)
- Honey (light yellow)
- Butterscotch
I've used three of my favorite patterns to feature the Albion prints as well as created a brand new quilt pattern inspired by this collection.
Cascade Falls is my latest quilt pattern. You can read more about the Cascade Falls quilt pattern here. I have seen Cascade Falls quilt kits available here.
Other patterns made featuring Albion include: Lattice, and Hopscotch. The Lattice quilt pattern (left) is a great quilt for using 10" x 10" precuts (Layer Cakes) and the Hopscotch quilt pattern is perfect for 2 ½" precut strips (Rolie Polies or Jelly Rolls).
Assorted shops are kitting these quilts. I have seen the Lattice quilt kit available from Handmade is Heartmade, The Quilter's Crossing, and Stitches n Giggles.
I also made an updated version of my Pine Hollow Patchwork Forest quilt pattern using Albion. Because - the mountain woods and streams featured in the collection are a perfect pair.
Sojo Fabrics has kits available for this version of the Pine Hollow quilt.
If you are a shop carrying kits for any of these quilts, please let me know and I will add your links as well!

I was cutting Fat Quarters at the shop where I work. I love this line, as a fellow Utahn I have really enjoyed all the local spots on the fabric. I used to live below Battle Creek Falls and I've been camping at Granit Flats. The flowers are super fun too. Nicely done Amy!

This is a very beautiful collection! I would love to have lots of it! The quilts are so pretty too. I hope to see this when I shop next week and I might consider breaking my "buy no more fabric" rule.

So lovely! I have seen Charise Randall already sew a beautiful tote with these fabrics. I love the watercolor floral! She embroidered on some of the flowers, so beautiful!

Very pretty. Can you show us how the pink, blue, and white prints might coordinate with Portsmouth?
