This week we wrapped up the 2026 Scandi Hearts Quilt along and I finished my own latest quilt that I made with this pattern. This quilt was especially made to be finished in time for Valentine's Day ❤️ so I went with a very traditional Valentine's Red, Pink, and White palette - including the perfect heart fabric. I've already been using it as a snuggle quilt on my couch while I watch the Olympics.

This quilt design grew out of a summer trip to Norway and a love for Scandinavian folk art design. Inspired by traditional woven paper hearts (julehjerter), the quilt translates that cozy, "hygge" feeling into patchwork, with two layout options and a mix of heart quilt blocks that work beautifully for both seasonal or year-round Scandi love.
Meet the Valentine's Version of Scandi Hearts
The quilting on this one was done by Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting using her Heart Baubles pantograph. I chose this one because I liked how it looked a little bit "folk-art-ish" to go with the Scandinavian design of the blocks.
Fabrics I used:
- Riley Blake Confetti Cotton Jazzberry (red)
- Riley Blake Confetti Cotton Peaches n Cream (pink)
- Love and Friendship Low Volume (white)
- Binding: Micro Gingham in Jazzberry from Riley Blake
I also used the Love and Friendship print for the backing. This is my latest contribution to the 5th collection of Hush Hush Low Volume prints from a Riley Blake designers collective. The print was also inspired by scandinavian folk art design so of course I HAD to make a Scandi Hearts quilt and include this print!
I cut the gingham binding on the bias to make the design a little more dynamic. (And who can resist a cute bias gingham binding?)

This pattern is a great sampler quilt and skill-builder pattern. And, because I did a quilt along with this one, I walked through all of the steps along the way, such as strip-piecing techniques (including cutting and sewing), how to get perfectly-pieced quilt blocks, my favorite border method, etc. All of these steps with videos can be found here and will remain as a permanant reference.
I'm also working on finishing up another version of this quilt with a dark blue background. The navy on this one is RB Confetti Cotton in Oxford Blue. The red is a posey print from Mary Catherine and the white is another Hush Hush low volume print Rad Plaid.
As you can see, there are 2 different layout options for this pattern. One is a "4-leaf-clover" design like in the pink version above. The other is where all of the hearts go the same direction. Instructions for both options are included in the pattern.
I did add one new twist to the quilt above that is not listed in the pattern - I added an outside 6" wide border to the Throw size quilt making it a 84" x 84" quilt. (I used the red plaid from my Albion collection.)
