Oh, hello there. Fancy meeting you here. We are back from our epic road trip adventure to the Teton Mountain Range and Yellowstone National Park. I hope you'll pardon the "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" travel report. I have zero new sewing projects to share, but I do have pictures of pretty scenery, so I hope you'll bear with me.
Jenny Lake in the Tetons. I love this place. This was someplace I went multiple times as a child, but haven't been back in over 20 years. Going as an adult was like seeing everything through new eyes. I appreciated the beauty so much more. I guess I'm finally growing up.
I felt that way in Yellowstone National Park, in particular. Now I get why it's a big deal. Incredible.
Not to mention the wildlife, including these guys who strolled right in front of our car.
There you go. It was so therapeutic to get away with just the family and leave the world behind. Now that we're back I need to somehow wade through my email inbox and giant to-do list. I'm SO behind on everything right now. And somehow I need to catch up on the last days of the Olympics that are filling up my DVR.
But more importantly, there is only one week of summer vacation left. Yikes. I'm feeling emotions ranging back and forth between sadness that summer went so fast, to guilt wondering if we made the most of it, to sheer joy at the thought of the house actually staying clean for more than a few minutes each day as well as the remote possibility that I might actually regain control of my life. We'll see!

I follow you for your beautiful quilting, but what a coincidence that you post on the very vacation that we are planning for next summer when we return from overseas! Beautiful pictures and encouraging words: thanks for sharing and reaffirming our decision to make the trip next summer!

Great photos! And a coincidence here, too, because my son and his wife from Longview TX were just there the week of July 30, and they said it was spectacular. Thanks for sharing. I know it's on the list for my husband and I in the future.

Lovely! I climbed some trail in up the Grand Tetons when I was a teenager but I don't even know if that's the same place you went! Love the pictures, I'm having my vacation through everyone elses vacation pics! So thank you for sharing. Summer goes by soooo fast. I would say a road trip like yours is a summer well spent!

p.s. I like the gap sweatshirt in your picture

I think that will have to be on our Summer Vacation list too, absolutely beautiful and looks like it was cooler temperature wise as well. I never understood going south in the summer where it is even hotter than at home, especially this summer.

My daughter started 1st grade earlier this week and I have to say I totally understand the mixed emotions. I run a computer business out of my

I LOVE vacay reports and yours is perfect! What a perfect place for a family vacation. And Jenny Lake! I have fond (not! LOL) memories of sleeping in the car at Jenny Lake so we'd be sure to get a campsite bright and early the next morning. Sounds like you've had a perfect summer -- and with your trip, I'd say you DEFINITELY made the most of it -- great memories for your children!

I am soooooo excited by your post! We're actually leaving for yellowstone and the tetons tomorrow for our summer vacation and this just makes me even more thrilled. We always did the southwest parks as kids (Mesa Verde, Arches, Zion, Carlsbad, etc.) and I've never been up there before. I'm so glad you had fun! Did you guys do any day hikes? Any specific things to recommend?
amy smart
Ahh! So funny! You will love it. We had some great day hikes. We hiked Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point on the other side of Jenny lake and LOVED it. We hiked around the south side of the lake to get there and then took the boat back, but you can also just take the boat across to start the hike. Go early, because it gets busy. I also loved the hike from String Lake to Jenny Lake, so pretty

My mom lives in Jackson, WY, so I am fortunate to be able to visit the area frequently from Ohio. I didn't make it this year due to budget and schedule constraints, so your photos help fill the gap.

We just got back from that exact trip! Yellowstone is so much more than I ever expected. Those prismatic pools were breathtakingly gorgeous! I think every American should be required to go to Yellowstone, it's so much more than Old Faithful And of course my son's hat blew off at Mammoth Hot Springs even though it was strapped to his head.

Great photos! You know you are ready for school to start. If for nothing else, to catch your breath.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to our great state of WYoming. Most of us love the state we live in and after 61 years I can say that I still love to drive across Wyoming. I did just that last week and even in its drought state I loved my drive. I also love checking in with you almost everyday. I can "see" a mini quilt coming up for my 2 girls this winter.

The mountains in the background almost look surreal! Just beautiful, as beautiful as a quilt!

Don't apologize for the no sewing post. I live the pictures and we can't wait for our kids to get older so we can go there. It is on our bucket list. Glad to see that the trip will definitely be worth it.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Amy. With all the bad news they tell us about, it is reassuring to look at our world as the beautiful place it was made to be 🙂
