A little project I'd like to start today.
I've been wanting to make a Halloween quilt forever.
This is the year. I think.
A big thank you for all the nice things you've said this week. You have no idea how much they mean. I've been feeling some blah, blah, bloggy frustration lately, sometimes wondering why I do it, is it worth all the time it takes away from other things, etc. There are things that I love about blogging - the main one being the wonderful people I've come in contact with - both in real life and by cyber-communication. I also love all the inspiration and helpful information to be found reading blogs. Wonderful stuff!
The troubling thing about blogging and blog-surfing is the whole comparison aspect that women struggle with in life in general. Seeing someone's best, perfect side, knowing your own worst, imperfect side, yadda, yadda. I know I fall into that trap from time to time -recently, in fact - and it's easy to get discouraged. So really, I sincerely thank you for the many kind things you've all said recently. My only wish is that I had more time to reply to every one - but my kids like my attention and my husband loves to eat dinner and my body likes sleep - so please accept this post as a personal thank you. Lame in effort but totally sincere in motivation.
And now, the reason you're REALLY here. The Giveaway Winner announced HERE.

That fabric is so fun. Can't wait to see what you come up with! So glad to have found your blog. I need to make another table runner for fall.
Kris
I love the fabric! Are you going to enter it in the GenX contest?

Amy, I have missed so many of your blog posts and just went back and read through! You have been up to so much and have had some beautiful posts. I can totally understand the need to make dinner and put family as a priority. Looking forward to seeing your Halloween quilt!

I would be sad if you quit blogging. I try to keep it real on my blog--but then I think, do people really want to hear how I spilled an entire jar of peppercorns while making soup this week, and then the next day through out some of the broth because it had gelatinized more than normal and I thought it was fat? Ha! I figure people undo their seams as often as I do, and then try to just appreciate

🙂 just wanted to say hang in there. I feel like I'm in the same boat lately. It's hard to keep up with everyday life and sew/blog on top of that. Just be true to yourself and sew the things you want to sew because you love it.

I think we all feel like you do...especially if we aren't professional photographers, and our pics look sort of slopppy, the lighting isn't right, or we aren't as funny as we'd like to be. But it is so much fun seeing what you are working on...and I don't think anyone expects a response to their comments ;-D Keep it up...

Hey Kiddo...You are a great wife, mama, daughter, sister, auntie, friend and that all comes first... you don't have to feel obligated to us at all!;) If you just post a couple of times a month we would all still be here and excited to hear from you..no worries!
xo

You are hands down the most amazing cousin I know! You also happen to be the only female cousin I know, but that aside, you are a rock star!

I love your blog and look forward to each new post. Your work is very inspiring, especially to a new quilter like me. Thanks for sharing!

Really, I would like to say "thank you" to you for inspiring me. I have been looking at everyone else's blog for 2 years now and it's because of you (and lots of other wonderful women) that I decided to start my own blog. My hope is give a little back (either to all of you pros out there or to the newbies). Keep up the great work and don't ever be afraid to pat yourself

amy, I don't know you personally, but I feel like I do. Been reading your blog now for several months. I have it up on my sidebar! I think you are one of the most amazing teachers and your eye for color is truly a gift. I drool over what you put together. Thank you for sharing your talents!

Every once in a while I am really intimidated by some of the great quilting that is done by others. But then I have a day like today. Finished quilting a quilt and I am doing so much better than I was and I am not ashamed of what I can do. So even though I will probably never be an "excellent" quilter, I really like what I am doing.

What is that fabric that is second from the bottom? The dark orange with smiling jack-o-lanterns? I'm in love with it and would like to know the manufacturer or whatever so I can find some for myself!

I need to make a Halloween quilt too...someday!

i'll add my appreciation as well. i've made several of the diaper clutches and nursing covers, and am following your advice religiously on the quilt-along series. it's perfect timing and i'm so grateful for your online quilting class. but we most definitely want you and your family to eat and have time together. 🙂 thanks for your expertise!

I love your blog! I've been following you for a while, but this is my first time leaving a comment. Like you, I have a pretty full life... full-time job, 6 kids, husband and two houses! I enjoy reading your posts as well as the others I follow because I'm the only person around me who sews or quilts so these blogs are my personal inspiration, or "guild" if you will! 🙂

Who's to say one blog is better than another? That's why we're all different; different blogs appeal to different people. I used to follow ALOT of quilting blogs, but I don't feel the need to anymore. I've pared it down to the three I found most inspiring and yours is one of them. Nothing wrong with the other ones, and I'm sure they still post beautiful quilts and maybe

You are amazing! I was scared to send out my fabric to such an incredibly talented group of quilters.

OHmyword! I feel the exact same way. I've been going through the same thing. asking the same questions. I love the people too. So glad to know you!
