I just returned from International Quilt Market - the fabric industry's spring trade show. This was my second opportunity to attend Market (last year was my first in my home town, Salt Lake City.) This year it was held in Kansas City. (Half the weekend I had the song, "Everything's Up To Date in Kansas City" running through my head. Name that musical!)
It was a weekend full of seeing lots gorgeous eye candy as well as talented, inspiring people. I woke up at an unearthly hour to fly home this morning, so I'm going to share my pictures and insights later this week when I've got my brain back to a coherent state. But come back tomorrow - I'm going to have a Market Loot Giveaway for SMS Giveaway Day!

Can you explain what Sample Spree is? I've heard a lot of talk about it, but being new to the quilting community I don't quite understand. Is it open to the public?

That is a great question - I wondered the same thing for years until I saw it first hand. It's basically a market where the various vendors (fabric companies, patters publishers, notions, etc.) sell their wares to the retailers at wholesale prices. You have to be a credentialed Market attendee to go, but a separate ticket is required. And the line is CRAZY long. I think people start getting

oooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOK- lahoma... It's my dream to go to quilt market... someday. Might not be good for my wallet, though, to see all those fabrics in person. "I'm just a girl who can't say no." 😉

Lucky you! I wish I could have been there. Infact, I had planned on it until wedding plans were made for June 1st in New Zealand. I'm excited to see pictures and hear of your adventures.

I sang that song the entire time I was there, too! My friends got tired of it.

I went to quilt market for the first time last year also. Had so much fun, and spent way too much money. Loved seeing your pictures
