Summer is rolling along and I am glad to report: so far, so good. Thanks so much for the support of my little Etsy sale last week. I'm sorry to say that the I-spy blocks are gone. There will be more next year. Sewing and computer time are pretty minimal once summer hits - and that's okay. But I am sorry if I haven't responded to an email or been as helpful as I'd like - I feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day! I need to be Mom first, especially in the summer. Yesterday my 10-yr-old said to me, "Sometimes I wish you weren't a blogger. Well, I like that you're successful, but, well, you know..." Which both cracked me up and made me a little wistful at the same time. I've kind of been feeling the same way...
This is another stack I'm working on cutting into right now when I find a minute or two. I'm totally smitten with the combination. I was able to get a little bit of the upcoming Cotton and Steel basics to work with and just wanted to report that I really like the weight and feel of the fabric. It's super soft cotton, not too light-weight or sheer. It's really nice stuff. I just have a few bits and pieces right now - I'm excited to get more - especially of their basics.
One more fun thing to share. I've been to a few sewing retreats and have enjoyed them a lot - my favorite part is always meeting new sewing friends. And the actual sewing part too. Afterwards I always have people ask me to share more about them prior to going. So if you are looking to attend a retreat with lots of time for sewing and meeting new friends, check out Sewtopia. The Sewtopia Retreat will be in Salt Lake City (my home town!) this November. I'm looking forward to going!

Looks like you have lots of fun coming up!

BTW, when are you up north during your trip over here?

I can understand your issues with the time to quilt and blog in the summer...and you are exactly right with being a mom first...I am a high school teacher and my children are both in college, so summer is the time I can get the most sewing done...once school starts again in August, I won't touch my machine until Thanksgiving break.

In the header for this page, you have a beautiful quilt with triangle shapes in it - it sits just above the words "tutorials" and "featured" - can you tell me what the name of the quilt is and if you have instructions or a full picture of it? Thanks!

Enjoy your Summer Days with your Children. As an Empty Nester I don't have that in my life. I sew when I want and think back and watch my Son's and Daughters with their busy lives and think... How did I do it all with the kids at home?
Quilt Fabric Pizazz
Love the fabric choices in your collections of blocks! Spend time with your children, you will never get it back once they are grown. As a woman in my 60's there is plenty of time to do other things now, sometimes too much time.

Enjoy you summer and we will all see you when we see you...we know you are busy with the best things in life - your family. Cheers!

Hi Amy, I totally get your feelings about summer. It seems like your priorities are spot on. Spend it with your kids. These days go by so quickly and it is great to be able to enjoy them. Today is our first day of summer! I have only one child left at home now - looking forward to being with her for the next two months. If you don't blog as much as usual over the summer, so be it. We will
