Doesn't it feel great to finish something you've had in the works for a while? You may remember that I made this quilt top last summer to take with me to teach at the Fat Quarterly retreat. I packed that quilt-top around with us the whole time we were in England and finally took pictures the day before we left.
Then we got home and it was time to get caught up on real life, get ready for school to start, etc. Finally I got around to picking out some borders and getting it off to the quilter.
The pattern for this quilt is in my book Fabulously Fast Quilts and is jelly roll (2 ½'' strips) friendly. You can see the original quilt in the book, Moroccan Tile here. I really want to remake all the quilts in my book in totally different color palettes, and this is the first. This one was made using Denyse Schmidt's recent collection Hadley (available here, and here). The background fabric is a Modern Solid from In The Beginning in the color Bamboo. I LOVE it.

It is beautiful....and especially love the strip of teal 😉

I love seeing this in another color palette.

Great finish! I love the color choices... from the top to the borders to the back to the quilting lines.... great job!

Just LOVE the colors in this one - had to show my husband right away, how the quilt on the cover of your book is the same as the above one. Made a baby size quilt from your book - 'Simple Simon' and my oldest loved it so much - she placed it 'on point' on her bed spread. I think I might have to make her a larger one to fit her bed totally. I have to say that the quilt came
Karen - Quilts...etc.
love the quilt - you are lucky to have had time to rake up the leaves - mine are still clinging to the trees and some are on the ground and we might get snow on Saturday, hope it won't be much - I don't want the trees weighted down.
Where did you get those neat looking scissors? I love them and the binding on your quilt looks great.

So pretty! You picked the perfect border
Dominique
Great fabric, and simple pattern that looks much more complicated than it is, but I think what makes this quilt is the quilting. Fabulous finish!
It's beautiful Amy!!! I LOVE the baptist fan quilting too -- perfect!

Lovely quilt, love the vintage feel. I like the strip of teal in the mustard binding.

Very nice quilt and the leaves make a perfect backdrop. Great job!

Wonderful quilt and quilting, Amy! I also love the peek of teal in the binding. Your setting for the pictures is perfect! Where on earth is that? - Autumn is my favorite time of year and since it was so lovely this year it's hard to wake up to snow this morning. Had a blast hanging out with you at Sewtopia, hope to see you again soon.

It's beautiful! I love the colors you picked for this version and how it looks so different from the first one in the book just from the background colors and the style of quilting. Absolutely beautiful. 🙂

Love the Hadley collection, but some of the plaids are a bit strong for me. This pattern gives you a glimpse of the strong plaids, so it doesn't overwhelm. I like your choice for the binding, and the border gives it a vintage feel. Thanks for sharing and congrats on a beautiful finish!

I think mustard was the perfect color choice. Your photos are beautiful!

I love your quilt, from the grey background to the mustard binging to the baptist fan quilting: You made some great choices!! Hugs, H in HeaLDSburg

Beautiful in the deeper, elegant colors. The quilts in your book are on my selfish sewing list come January!

Beautiful, and I love the Baptist Fan stitching and the dash of teal in the binding. We've had a pretty fall, too, but four - five inches of snow fell last night so it's on to winter. As it should be.

I love the color palette!

Love your fabric choices! Perfect for Fall 🙂

Just catching up on the past few weeks, looks like you had a great trip to Market, Sewtopia appears to have restarted your mojo, and Hadley looks fab :o)

Love this quilt, especially the "non-white" background. Have your fabulous fast book and am looking forward to choosing my first quilt to make from it. Have to straighten out my sewing/quilting room first.
Elizabeth
Just lovely, thanks for sharing it.

Ya, except then there is shoveling! :l Love the quilt, I have a fat quarter of Hadley!?

oops I meant to say a charm pack of Hadley. This helps me get to thinking about what todo w/ it. I like todo as one word!
Nicole
Beautiful, Amy! And perfect setting for the photos!

I really like the combination of the modern piecing/fabric and the Baptist fans!

Simply gorgeous with vintage appeal. The baptist fan quilting gives it some movement. This quilt certainly is one to be proud of. Great job all round.
Ginny
This is such a beautiful quilt! I think you captured your idea perfectly - I can imagine finding this in an old trunk in Grandma's attic. Gorgeous picture with the lovely autumn leaves.
Stacy
Love it!

Oh wow, this is gorgeous!!! I love that background bamboo color. Luckily I have a bundle of Hadley so maybe I can make something similar. The binding is great, too!

I remember this from the summer, and I love the borders that you've added and the Baptist Fan quilting. I just might copy this. Exactly. You won't mind, right? 😉
abengel
Is the bamboo fabric a brown color or grey? It looks brown in some of the pictures and grey in others. Beautiful quilt!
amy smart
It's a real mushroom-y, grayish-brown. (How's that for super helpful.) Probably the truest color match is in the close-up binding picture with the scissors and the spool.
Michele
Absolutely gorgeous quilt. Love love the bindings!
