Sarah Jane’s Sommer Fabric and Quilt Patterns

Sommer Star Quilt

Last fall, I was lucky enough to get to sew a few quilts with Sarah Jane’s new collection Sommer for her booth at Quilt Market. Now that Sommer is arriving in stores, I’m excited to finally share some of those quilts, including a free pattern for this star quilt.

Sommer fabric Michael Miller

True to Sarah Jane’s unique and inspiring style, this is another collection filled with beautiful details and whimsy, not to mention lots of pretty color. You can read more about Sarah Jane’s description here.

Sommer rabbits, swans, flower fabric

This collection is inspired by Scandinavian Summer – with lots of sweet details like rabbits hiding in tulips, big beautiful florals, and swans. I love the swans – especially in the subtle gray and the bright kelly green.

Sommer Quilts-001

One the left is a quilt I made with the subtle, light prints in the collection. I shared that one here, made with the Broken Dishes tutorial.

Sommer Stripes quilt-001

This quilt is made from strips and to show off the darling panel print from this collection -children at the park with kites, more swans and the skyline of Stockholm in the distance.  This quilt measures 42″ x 50″. The print strips are cut at 3 1/2″ x width of fabric. The panel comes from a 1 1/4 yard piece, then trimmed to 12 1/2″ x 42″.

Sommer Free Star Quilt patten

This star quilt was made to show off more of the saturated prints. I love how it has a little bit of a Liberty of London look. Gorgeous quilting on both quilts by Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting.

You can find the free PDF pattern for this quilt here

Sommer is arriving now in shops. Not only is it available in quilting cottons, it is also available in double gauze, and canvas. It is available from Westwood Acres, Lady Belle FabricsSouthern Fabrics, Bobbi Lou’s Fabric Factory, Fat Quarter Shop, and Fabricworm.

These are all so cute! I would love a post on how you get rid of all the threads before quilting. I feel like I never get them all and could pick threads off for hours. Is there a trick?
