Over the years, I've shared a few quilt shops that I've crossed paths with on my travels. I love finding a new-to-me local shop and taking a little bit of the personality of the owner and community. While I was at Winterfest in Logan, Utah a couple of months ago, I decided to make a quick (30 min) trip to Suppose Quilt Boutique across the border in Idaho. It was totally worth the trip!
Suppose, owned by mother-daughter team Kathy and Jo Thomas, is located on Main Street in little Preston, Idaho. I'd first met Kathy and Jo at the Sewtopia event in Salt Lake about a year and a half ago where they had a pop up shop. I'd heard so many great things about their store and it lived up to all of the hype.
Every quilt shop has it's own personality and style, and Suppose's style and inventory is just the kind that inspires me.
(It also inspired me to buy a healthy chunk of fat quarters. I guess I was feeling the pink and navy vibe that day.)
Suppose specializes in contemporary and modern fabric collections from designers such as Lizzy House, Denyse Schmidt, Jen Kingwell, Cotton+Steel, Tula Pink, Carolyn Friedlander, etc.
They are also well-stocked with pre-cuts and notions.
I'm hoping I captured the feel and inspiring style of Suppose for those of you who can only make a virtual tour. (You can also find them on their blog, Facebook and Etsy.) If you are ever headed to northern Utah/south-eastern Idaho, they are definitely worth the stop! (As an added bonus, Napoleon Dynamite's house is not far away. I may have driven past there as well... sadly, there was no sign of Tina or Uncle Rico's van.)
If you're interested in other virtual tours of more fabric shops, here are some posts from the past visiting a variety of shops:
-
Quilt related shops in New York City (including Purl Soho and The City Quilter)
-
Fabric shops in London (including Liberty of London and The Cloth House)
-
Modern Domestic, Portland, Oregon

I live in Helena, Montana, so a 'road trip' might be in the cards for the summer. Even though we do have some great quilt shops here!

Kathy and Jo also host wonderful retreats. A group of us had a great time there last October. Wonderful food, beautiful space, and shopping nirvana at their store.

I was just looking at their retreats on their website - they look amazing! And Idaho in the summer is so wonderful. I think I'm going to have to try and go to one someday!

I try to drop by "Suppose" on my way home to Idaho from Colorado Springs -- such a fun shop, and a much larger selection that one would "suppose," given its size!

I wish I were going to that shop TODAY! It looks like a heavenly shop. Sadly, I am not familiar with Napolean Dynamite!

I love Suppose and made another stop on my way down to Winterquiltfest from Wyoming. In your first photo I spy a bolt of Purebred fabric that I plucked and bought from. 🙂 It has made its way into my Clam Bake quilt, and scraps will be in my Fig Tree Wool Applique BOM.

I love that you drove by Napoleon's home... I would have done the same 🙂

Right?! Who could pass up the opportunity! 😉
