I was so excited when Keera Job first announced that she was a new fabric designer for Riley Blake Designs – especially because I’ve always loved Keera’s style and colors. So it was no surprise that I would love her first, collection Daisy Days.
Aren’t those colors just pretty and cheerful? So when Keera asked if I’d like to sew with it, I couldn’t say no. They looked so pretty just sitting in my new baskets from Target, that I almost couldn’t bring myself to cut them up.
Here’s a better shot of the prints. Lots of florals in different scales and colors. I also loved that orange peel print.
Because the colors and prints are so summer-y, I went with a classic 4-patch quilt in a good picnic size. Perfect for playing with color and fabric.
In my never-so-humble opinion, you can never go wrong with a traditional patchwork 4-patch. And putting them on point gives them a little extra charm. I am working on a tutorial for this quilt design. My Fast Four-Patch Quilt tutorial is the most visited post on my blog. It’s crazy! I guess other people like simple patchwork too. So I thought it would be fun to take that simple look and give it a twist on point.
I had high hopes to have the pattern/tutorial ready today, but the reality of summer and life set in. Especially after finishing a new quilt/tutorial just last week. So stay tuned for this one.
A big thanks to Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting for helping me get this quilt finished the Daisy Days blog tour stop today. She’s the best. I chose the pattern called Blissful for this one. It was calling for a good allover floral design. I can’t wait to throw this quilt in the wash and make it all soft and crinkly. With the soft colors and traditional pattern it’s going to feel like a vintage quilt after it’s washed. I hope.
Daisy Days is available in stores now! Look for it in your favorite local quilt shop, or find it online at the Fat Quarter Shop.*
Be sure to check out the other projects on the Daisy Days tour through the month of August. Sedef shared her Desert Windmills quilt last week and it’s stunning! It’s always amazing to see what people do with the same fabric. I can’t wait to see the rest this month!
