    Fresh as a daisy

Last Modified: July 14, 2009 by Amy · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 9 Comments

This post has nothing whatsoever to do with quilting, but I thought I’d share a brief report on last weekend. We survived (and even enjoyed!) all of the hoopla of birthday and baptism. (Although by Saturday night I was pretty wiped out.) Every once in a while, my ‘inner-Martha’ shines through – usually for only a brief nano-second. So how could I not proudly share?
I always make cupcakes for birthday parties. Mainly because I am lazy – they are so fast to prepare and easy to serve. So as we were getting ready for the party, I remembered our new little cake stand and we decided to stack them pretty. Then came the idea to put a daisy on top. This is SO easy to do. I think I got the idea from a Family Fun magazine a long time ago.

The petals come from one marshmallow. Using a pair of scissors, cut the marshmallow parallel to the flat sides, into 5 pieces. The cutting process kind of flattens the sides, making the petal shape. You can use any round object for the flower center. We used a melted Starburst because that is what we had on hand. Voila.
The birthday party was fun (swimming, water balloons and hot dogs in the backyard – how can you go wrong?) but the baptism was extra special. She looked so sweet and fresh in her simple, white dress. Happy family memories.

Amy…the daisy is so sweet. At Easter time my mom's friend showed us how to do it with the colored mini marshmallows and they were so sweet! Congratulations on your daughter's baptism!
