It's been one of those busy weeks around here. My computer and I have had a bit of an estranged relationship for the past few days. Part of that is due to the fact that I was able to attend part of Pamela's quilt retreat. Because of a full schedule of family activities, I couldn't attend the whole thing, but it was still very nice to get away for a few hours yesterday and today and just sew. I brought 3 UFO's (un-finished-objects) thinking I would make great progress toward wrapping those up. But what did I do instead? Start something totally new! (Of course!) See above.
We were also privy to an Emily Herrick trunk show. (Teaser alert.) I'll share more of those in a separate post. They were awesome. As is her new collection, Hall of Fame. The quilt above is made with fabrics from her first collection, Going Coastal. I love that line and that quilt!
One of my favorite parts of a quilting retreat is seeing what other people are working on. So much cute stuff! This is part of a Christmas table-runner made by Maggie. Love it.
Blessed Maggie also donated a little triangle of precious Pez fabric so I could finish one of my UFO's. (See, I did actually pull one of them out and made good progress.) Thank you Maggie!
And here is the progress on my blocks from the first picture. Coming along nicely. I always love the chance to meet new sew-y friends and to chat while sewing. Good times. Thank you new friends! And productive too - an added bonus.
And now I'm off to bed. My busy life caught up to me last night - I thought I was going to fall asleep while making dinner. Afterward I took my daughter to her national Honor Society program and once I sat down, I could not keep my eyes open during the enthusiastic speeches about all those important high-achieving characteristics. Fortunately she said, "It's okay Mom, you can take a nap through this part." What a good child. I'm glad to say that I was wide awake during the part where my daughter got her certificate, but if my Leadership and Character qualities are not as good as they should be, you'll know why.

Woot for new projects--can't wait to see it finished. The fabrics look really fun! Btw, I believe we have the same Bernina!
Erica
Your project look terrific! I love Going Coastal too and hope to finish a project with some of the prints in time for Christmas. And like the commenter above...I think I have the same Bernina too - love that machine!
Ella
Amy, Thanks for sharing!! I was great to meet you again and sew together lots of fun!!!♥
Elisa Black
Your new project and the others at the retreat all look so wonderful-- thanks for sharing. Perhaps you can blame the fatigue on the time change-- yesterday, it got dark at 4:30 here, and at 6:15, the kids were already fed and I swear it felt like 10pm! I was totally ready for bed. (But I did manage to stay up for a couple more hours and do little quilting).
Michele
Glad you got to have some great quilting time and got some obviously much needed sleep. I can't wait to the see the UFOs not as UFOs any longer.
Maggie
It was so great to meet you Amy! And I'm glad that my little piece o' Pez has gone to a good home! She looks quite happy in her new digs! Looking forward to the next Utah sewing meetup!

new projects are cool, looking forward to seeing it completed...

Sounds like you had fun at your retreat. And clearly you suffer from the same malady that many of us do -- being just too excited about a new project to wait until UFOs are done before you start it! Can't wait to see what you're making!

Wiiiiii... Frebird is one of my favourit fabrics ever 🙂 Look forward to see what you do with it
